hey

Just wondering what some of you guys spend for that Disney vacation :)

We are doing a few days in the Disney park and then the cruise and in dollars it's coming to about 8000. It's taking us years to save that and Intrested to no what u would spend and how often you would do it. Or am I just totally mad.

We are on middle range pay and it means not doing much all year for us to do this life time trip lol

I regret to say that Disney vacations are the most expensive vacations we have done. We have cut back quite a bit because we can't keep up with their rising costs even though we are driving distance to Disneyland in California. 2 of the cruises I've been on have been from my home port. If I had to fly and add on extra days for travel, I'd probably only go every 5 or 10 years.

In general, we spend what we are comfortable with to get the itinerary we desire. We did a N Europe DCL cruise last year with an ABD add-on for our family of 4 and that is not a cost we could support on a frequent basis. However, there were plenty of mid-age families with young and school age kids that were platinum on that trip and vacation that way regularly.
Your 8k for a 2-phase trip that likely is 8-10 days long (my guess) sounds pretty typical depending what room type, hotel type, park tics you are getting.
For reference, my oldest will graduate HS next year. She would like to go on a family outdoor type trip with camping or cabin as her graduation trip. I was doing preliminary research on a few choice locations (i.e. Cool National Parks) with rental fees and various transport options added up (no other costs like food) I was getting close to 5k...and this is in the continental US!!! Luckily we have time to plan and strategize.
Good Luck!

Woo and that's normal lol

All there cruises more less sold out parks busy every day

How does everyone afford it lol

I spend as little as possible. This trip, all in, we'll probably be around 2700-3000.

Even at that, Disney vacations are not something we do often, and is mostly everybody's "present" for birthdays and Christmas.

I have any number of penny-stretching strategies, and we drive. Last Disney trip probably cost around $1200 (maybe a little more with gas). We're usually under $2000. This one is more because we're cruising, we're spending several days in Florida before and after, and I splurged with a night at Disney Vero Beach.

My 6 Disney cruises were with my mom (1 cruise) and a friend (5 cruises), so I have paid for only one person. I also book less expensive cruises (like the Transatlantics) in the least expensive cabin. My trips still aren't cheap, because I almost always add time on land before and/or after the cruise. I spent 10 days in the Paris area (3 at DLP and a week in Paris) after last May's TA cruise ended, as well as 3 nights at WDW before the cruise.

How many days is your cruise? Does the 8000 include airfare? Is that in US dollars, Euro, Pounds?

8K would be really high for us, but we are not coming from the UK... how many people is that for? Just you and your partner? We average 4-5K I'd say but our trips are all over the board. We go to Disneyland far more often and our next trip is just a 3 night DCL... both of those are on the cheaper end.

That's really good but I would be about 1600 dollars at least just for airfare lol

Have you looked at budget carriers such as Norwegian air or WOWair? Have you looked at staying at a Disney Value Resort instead of Caribbean beach? There's little things you can cut back on. Fewer days in the park, more pool time and relaxation. Then again, if I were paying that much to be in Orlando, i'd take advantage of all of it, and stay where I want to stay, and do everything I want to do.

This is my first Disney Cruise (and my first Disney vacation period). But I have traveled and cruised a lot (from Carnival in the Caribbean to a small luxury junk boat in the South China Sea) I've been on land-based vacations from Anchorage AK to Angkor Wat and THIS is my most expensive vacation ever. I'm up just over 10,000 for a 7-day Disney Fantasy cruise for myself, my adult daughter and my 5 year old granddaughter. This includes the cruise (extended aft balcony) air travel from Ohio, transfers, tips, shore excursions, a trip to the Bibbity Bobbity Boutique, tickets to the Royal Court Royal Tea, a photo package, and (just in case a long-shot comes in) a cabana on Castaway Kay. (If we don't get a cabana, I'll treat my daughter to Remy and a spa treatment.

Does that sound negative? I don't feel negative at all. I purposely went into this wanting to experience the famous pixie dust. I'm excited about taking care of all the costs and business with everything pre-paid and pre-booked with even some padding for my on-board account. I'm throwing myself into the Disney experience. I just want the Disney magic to take over and as they say on ABC's Once Upon a Time, "Magic comes at a price, Dearie".

For our family of 4, we usually spend about $1000/day including airfare, airport parking etc.

our 7-night cruises on the Fantasy usually range in the $5500-6500 range then when you add gratuities, excursions, hotel before and after, airfare, transfers, etc it is about $10000 each time. i try not to think about it or i probably would never do it. DH says each time we go, he adds an extra year on to retirement!

8K is around what we spend... 6k for the cruise then all the flights and excursions and stuff... it adds up... my mom is forcing us to go to the parks next year and we have to add on another $2500 on top of the cruise money... so yea needless to say i just bought gift cards today from the tax return to put towards the 2017 cruise because it's gonna be expensive! ugh... but worth it, it's my peace of mind all year

It does not sound negative. They are pricey! But you will be making such wonderful memories with your daughter and grand daughter. I've never regretted splurging for Disney magic. I'm a single school teacher, but I make it work, and it gives both my daughter and I something to think and dream about all year.

I have a travel budget for myself- about 5k a year. I'm not rich, and do not sail Disney very often, and when I do it is often at a greatly reduced CM rate(thanks mom!). I'm fortunate to live in Florida so cruising to the caribbean is easily accessible and I am able to take advantage of many great deals. I sail in an inside guarantee stateroom, always book last minute, and am very stingy with my onboard spending. I do treat myself, but sparingly. I also plan a lot of non-cruising trips and weekend getaways to keep my sanity in check. Usually around 1,000 is spent yearly on a trip to Disneyland, my favorite Disney getaway by myself. Sometimes I travel solo, other times I travel with family or friends, and sometimes I travel to go see family or friends.

On our 2015 WBPC cruise we traveled on a MTO sale for an outside room...14 nights (2 adults 1 4 year old) and it was $4200.

We had a travel voucher on Delta, so our one way flight from San Diego to Maimi was less than $100. Our two night stay in a 2 bedroom suite was $150 total (military discount and split with another family member). We spent a few dollars on admission to the Everglades and did an Everglades Tour (with coupon) for less than $75. Our rental car was about $50 for 2 days.

On board, we bought the advance everything Photo Package with prints and disc and I think it was around $400.

We paid one corkage fee of $15

We did self excursions in Cozumel and Cabo San Lucas and it was less than $50 total.

In Cartagena we hired a private guide for the day and it worked out to be about $150, I think.

We bought internet on board, had a few things pressed and a few souvenirs. $100ish. No alcohol.

We reduced a few tips on board after spending many a day at guest services trying to get problems resolved...like...we have not had fresh towels in our bathroom after 3 full services where we know she was in our room to do other things and we had NO towels. We also had issues with the dining team and dealing with food allergies. But we left tips for the Kids Club and a few others that were not on our scheduled gratuities sheet so I think it worked out to about $400.

All in all, I think we were just over $5,500 for a 19 day vacation. We live at the San Diego port, so we walked home. I am a corporate travel agent and partner is military, so we are used to getting steep travel discounts. In fact, it is the only way we will travel. We travel where the deals are. We never pick a destination and then pay the prevailing rate.

We must be kindred spirits. I am not a wealthy woman but I prioritize books and travel. Travel is my biggest yearly expense. I have never regretted spending most of my money going places, meeting people and having experiences. In the end, it's only the memories we can take with us and leave with others. Travel is all my worldly treasure and I wouldn't have it any other way.
