How Much do you spend on a trip to WDW

Next month when my friend and I go to WDW I am a DVC member I have an AP so I don't need tickets. I thought $1000 for 5 days at Disney would be more that enough we will be driving down from NoVa. So we will share the cost of rental car and gas. one of the days we are driving to South Beach. My friend thinks I should budget more. I never spend that much on a trip. What do you guys think is a good amount for a trip.

For shopping and dining, I have been known to drop 1500-2000 in a week.... that does not include flight, hotel, or park passes....

I think if you brought $1000 but had some back up $ you would be fine...

Not including tickets we usually spent about $100 per day, per person, and that's pertty much all food / alcohol. We usually have 2 sit down meals per day, breakfast / lunch.

Not sure how much gas you will be for the trip and then South Beach.

This is the budget that usually gets us through with a little room to spare at the end.

Food & Fluids: $70 per person per day (For us, the DDP is a waste and OOP is cheaper.)
Gasoline: $100 round trip
Souveniers: $100 per person per day (We collect pins and at $7 or more each, it doesn't take long for that to add up big time.)

Our vacations have been anything from super cheap offsite stays for a weekend with a $700 budget to the $10,000 9 night vacation at CR that we took with Corey's mom last December. Honestly, it's not all Disney that we have to account for. Ever since that super cheap vacation, we have had pets. Boarding the dogs costs us about $130/night. We tried to board them cheaper once, but it wasn't what was best for them, so we just suck it up and pay for them to be happy and well cared for instead of for cheap with out Vet's office.

I hope something in this helped.

OMG I had no idea it could be that much. We pay $33.00 per night for the 2 in one run plus additional for playtime but I think our per night at most is $50. Maybe it's just cheaper around here? And we would not go there if we didn't trust them. We used to have a Saint (RIP), he was the best, anyway, he loved it there. When I got 2 miles from the place (seriously it was when we got off the expressway) he would start barking, happy barks, and just go nuts when he got there. Now we have our 2 senior citizens and they are find going there too.

Sorry I know I'm off topic, but man I had no idea.

We have paid our resort off, and will pay ahead of time, our tickets and have our DD plan money set aside...that said, we plan on heading down from NC to FL with $1,000. That is gas money and FUN money!! Key word "PLAN" ;)

Thanks for the info guys I don't buy a lot when I am there because we go 2 or 3 times in a year. Breakfast is usually coffee and a muffin . Lunch is salad or burger or a hot dog. Dinner is normal sit down with one drink.

Sorry, but I stopped eating burgers and dogs at Disney years ago. Just plain gross product! I prefer the fresh fruit offerings at the parks, oh and the McDonalds fries! Why are they so much better at Disney than at your local golden arches? :confused3

It depends on where we stay. Including airfare and rental car our first trip in 96 cost us about $1200 each for 8 days. I was hooked and by the third trip was staying 3 nights at the GF before stepping down to the WL and then CSR. I know that trip cost about $3500 per person. We usually eat a small breakfast in the room and then have the big meal at lunch with a small dinner.

I'm with you on this one!! We ate at Cosmic Ray's and I thought I was going to LOOSE my lunch...GROSS!!!!!!!!!!! I prefer the wraps!

Ugh, I'm looking forward to knowing what my budget is when going to Disney. I just bought a DVC, paid for 2 flights (May 'n Sep), ordered the DxDP for May and still have 2 APs to buy. Oh and I put the $100 for parkin' at DFW under the cup holder. I'm flat busted broke now. :lmao:

AND I need more Disney T-shirts, it appears my older ones have shrunk. :rolleyes1

:rotfl2:

Ok you all are curling my toenails with spending!!!

We have DVC. I buy 10 day no expire tickets. We generally hit 3 parks/trip and we don't hop.

So with room and tix taken care of.... i went on a shoe string last summer and spent about $550 for the week, including gas down from KY (which i split with a friend).

Typically i think it would spend about 1000 for me and both kids for the week. However, we don't really buy anything while at dis. i am happy just existing there. I don't have the need to buy.

Of course our last 2 trips... who has needed to buy when my kids are getting spoiled from unnamed individuals that we love visiting!?

I could NOT go as often as I do if I spent like that.

I wish I could tell you how much I spend, I usually start out with about 1000, and then once that is spent, the Credit cards come out... and then the begging begins... its a vicious cycle

I will admit to being very spoiled! :thumbsup2

I will only admit to gross misappropriation of funds. :) I'm so glad tax refunds come soon in the new year because wow December @ Disney was expensive...and then a cruise in January. Yowza. Gotta get those miles somehow!

Thank you for your perspective. I was getting scared!

Last Jan we travelled with my DW's family. Her parents paid for the room and park tickets, we ended up with Free Dining due to constructions delays at AKV, we flew on points (plus about $300 in taxes), used DVC points to add two nights and spent a TOTAL of less than $200 on tips, other food and souvenirs. So, our budget for a 10 day trip was $250/person. (Granted, we had a lot of help with that one, but, I think your $1000 sounds reasonable.)

We're heading down again in 2 weeks (it's actually happening :yay: ). We are staying on points, renting a car and driving (2500 km each direction), we've planned to eat out 4-5 times and will do some microwave cooking in our studio. We worked out that we could do everything (rental car, gas, hotels on the road, food, park tickets, souvenirs) for about $1200 (i.e. $600/person). The decision we're still debating (but, I think we've basically decided to go with) is to add about $1000 to turn the tickets into 10day non-expiry hoppers +fun. We'll use 2 days this trip if we have hoppers, but, likely use 4 days if we don't get hoppers. So, the price difference starts to seem more worthwhile since we'll end up saving 8 days for the future.

Who knows, we may change our habits some day, but, for now, the primary reason we purchased DVC was that the kitchens help us save a fortune!

Sorry I know I'm off topic, but man I had no idea.

We use PetsHotel, which is run by PetsMart. The 4 dogs stay in a suite together. We bring extra beds, so that everyone has their own space. They all get along fine together. There is a guy that works there that our dogs just love. It's a good situation for them to be in, which is more than I can say for what they experienced being boarded at our vet's office.

To us, it's worth every penny for them to be well cared for there. Peace of mind comes with a hefty pricetag though.
