Hi - I know, I know, this is one of those 'how long is a piece of string?' questions!!:goodvibes

We are going on a 7 night western DCL cruise at xmas, and was wondering roughly how much spending money we will need?

We have $400 worth of onboard credit (and there was talk back along that we might get a fuel refund of another $154 - not sure if this is still happening:confused3).

I don't really drink, Steve does like a beer or two (but I will probably carry some onboard with us). We will undoubtedly want a photo package & a couple of castaway cay/dcl souvenirs, but we probably won't spend much else on bingo or anything like that really. The only area I am undecided about is with shore excursions which could obviously change the spending situation drastically!! :scared1::goodvibes

So I just wondered how much you guys generally spend on week long cruises?? And for those of you who have done the western itinerary what excursions did you do (especially if you had young children)??

Many thanks for any info!:lovestruc

The 1st Disney cruise we did was a 4 night, excluding tips we spent under $100, no alcohol, just bought a few bits, if I remember rightly we had to buy a soda package for DS then.

Last year 7 nights we spent about $240, had a few cocktails of the day.:thumbsup2 again excluding tips, I always take cash with me for them. didn't buy any photos last year got enough, a book, a couple of pins, a Minnie mouse and some shower gel. Also included Palos.

One year we did ocean bottom fishing to use up credit, that was about $200 for me and DS.

Done western twice but don't do excursions.

I think were on the Western cruise before you :thumbsup2

This is our first Disney Cruise but before we booked we looked at costs and things to make sure they wouldnt add up too much :thumbsup2

Like you we will probably only have a couple of drinks a night, but we do want to try the wine tasting when were at sea (I think its $15 per person?).

We also want to go to Palo one night (can't decide which one - I don't want to give any up they all sound great :rotfl:).

At Key West were going to do our own thing, looks like a really pretty place to wander around. Were also going to go to a supermarket there any buy some soft drinks to take back on the ship so we can take them on excursions the other days to save money :thumbsup2

I think Grand Cayman will be a beach day - not sure if we will do our thing or use DCL but should be fairly inexpensive.

For Cozumel were planning to do the Tulum tour, but its something we really want to do :thumbsup2

Castaway Cay we will just enjoy the island :goodvibes

We can't wait for this cruise :cloud9:

We are cruising in May and I have been thinking about the same thing :)

I had the following emailed to me by DU last week, regarding the fuel surcharge - our cruise has been 're-shopped' and is $176 less. I don't know whether it will apply to your cruise or not though, it looks like it depends on when you booked your cruise:

As you are probably aware, when you originally booked your reservation Disney Cruise Line was adding a fuel surcharge. The intent of this charge was to cover the increased price of oil. In December 2008 Disney Cruise Line decided to no longer add this charge to new reservation. However, they did not remove it from reservations that were already booked with the fuel surcharge charge. At that time Disney Cruise Line announced that they would review the price of oil each quarter and if the price of oil was over $70.00 per barrel you would have to pay the charge on your reservation but if it was under $70.00 they would refund it to you in the form of an onboard credit.

We have been monitoring this and the current trends have the price of oil over $80 per barrel with estimates of $100.00 by summer. If this trend continues you would not receive the onboard credit in the amount of the fuel surcharge.

Due to this, we have looked at your reservation and determined that we could “re-shop” your reservation with Disney Cruise Line and have the fuel surcharge removed without negatively affecting your reservation. Everything else on your reservation remains the same except your reservation price has decreased by $176.00.
