How much cash for a garage sale?

I have loved reading all the tips and advice on garage sales lately. I am preparing to have my first garage sale in a few weeks.
Anyway, I was wondering if somebody could tell me how much cash, and in what denominations, would be a good starting point for me to have on hand. I imagine lots of singles, but how many and what else?

50 in 1s, 20 in 5s, 30 in 10s and 100 in 20s. Also have quarters if you have in 25 or 50 cent items. You will get lots of 1s but if you have bigger ticket items, you may use all your change on the first few items. But that is what we do. Never keep it all out with you. I would take big bills inside to change out. And you do have someone helping you right?

yes, my dh will be here all day, both days with me. No way would I do this alone. Too risky.

I have a bunch of plastic grocery bags saved up, too. Anything else I am forgetting?

If you have a cooler, you could fill it with water and sell those for $1. It gets hot out shopping garage sales so the water usually sells well. And it can be some extra disney money. And good luck and happy sales!!

My neighbors sold coffee in the early morning at the last big neighborhood garage sale, along with chilled water. That was also a hit.

I use the lids from the 5-qt plastic ice cream pails to put my price stickers on as I'm ringing up the items. That way if you get a few people saying "can I set this here?" and they come up with an armload, you can start removing the tags and putting them on the lid. And it's easier to double check your addition rather than sifting through the pile item by item. I LOVE having a garage sale. Have a great time! And let us know how it went.
