I want to take some cash to for housekeeping and bell services tips. What else would we need on hand cash? I assume all the snack kiosks except magic bands or credit cards...

In addition to tips I prefer some cash for small purchases - pocket money for the littlies - perhaps for a taxi if transport doesn't work out. We can't buy Disney gift cards here in the UK - if I could I'd probably use them.

Most kiosks accept the magicband. Bring $1/ person per night for housekeeping. That is the norm but you could bring more. You can charge fining tips to your room or pay cash @ 20% per total price of meal (I don't tip on the tax)

If you use UBER they don't take cash.

I don't remember tipping bell services- I don't think we were in the room when the luggage was delivered. We did tip the bus driver for out bags. I believe $1/$2 per bag.

We brought $900 in GCs, $800, cash and my debit was on file in December. We do not buy a ton of stuff since we fly. I would say bring $50 for each day you will be there. That should pay your tips.[/QUOTE]

More than once I have run in to a kiosk that was having computer problems and could only accept cash. Now I take a bit with me into the park each day, just in case.

If you need to use a taxi a small tip for the person who gets you the taxi is also customary.

On our most recent 7 day trip (2 adults and 3 kids) back in January we left home with $300 in cash. DH just spent the last $20 yesterday.

We typically will take about $100 for each day we're staying. We use that for tips, any small purchases, and our snacks and quick service meals. The only thing we'll typically use our debit card for is table service restaurants (still tip with cash) and if we make any big purchases. I have ran into the situation where systems were down before and it worked in our favor, but it's mostly a budgeting tool for us. lol

We take $5 a day for housekeeping (because you get different housekeepers on any given day), $10 for the last day because they do a bit more than straighten up. I save my spare change all year before a trip and that is usually enough to get 5s and 1s for tipping. I try to bring $100 per day, but that's just because I like to have some cash in my pocket in case I want a t-shirt or and ornament or something. I always come home with money, but better too much than not enough.

Usually have $175 per day, Prefer to use cash when I can.

Cash still does have its many uses in Disney. For one most of us are travelling, travelling long distances sometimes, which tends to bring out 'tips'. I tip the bell services, the outside baggage claim guys (best way to check your bags BTW), the magical express guys and i have used taxis in the past on WDW property (uber now). One thing people often forget and very much ignore is tipping the maid services. Im a Union guy and they are union people, so we bring a envelope we have our daughters right thank you on and usually leave a 20 in for them.
So cash is still a thing we definitely think about on a WDW vacation. I often in the beginning of the trip carry $250-$300 in smaller denominations. I the world we live in and possibly my younger age, my peers and myself often view not having cash on hand is less important or cared for in our day to day life, but on vacation it is (interesting topic).
Also its been useful when breaking cash to get quarters and pennies for my daughters Pressed Penny collections.

We're the exception but we pay for everything in cash. We budget all year and take cash to pay for food.
The waiters even commented that we are old fashioned and they like that we pay with cash lol its definitely not for everyone though, it's certainly not as convenient

Several years ago we were heading to Disney right after work. I rushed home, changed, loaded the rest of the car. First stop I discovered I did not put my money clip in my pocket. No money, no driver's license, no problem. We had more than enough cash with what my wife is carrying.

If you want to tip mousekeeping, determine the amount and put it in envelopes with mousekeeping written on it. I have left money out before and it was there when we came back. I agree with some of the above, that having some cash on you is wise. Systems go down. (If Uverse was running the systems, I would triple the amount.) I carry a $20 until I break it and it gets below $15 and add a little more. Often, it may take days to break the $20.

I don't typically deal in cash so we only typically bring around $200 in small bills for tips and such.

We don't like to worry about carrying a bunch of cash, or leaving it in the room. So we will only take a couple hundred in cash for tips and tiny purchases - other than that we will use our credit card.

Don't forget your Magical Express drivers. We had an AWESOME driver on the way to the airport, and I had no cash to tip him with. :sad1:

Next time I will know to set some aside.

We don't carry much cash, maybe a couple hundred? DD has a gift card for any toy purchases, and we have another gift card for ourselves that we load for any other purchases (souvenirs, Food &Wine kiosks, etc). We use our magic bands mostly.
