How Much Are You Paying For Airfare?

SW round trip CT (BDL) to Orlando (MCO) 6/26 ~ 7/8 Early departing, Late returning $230.00 per person The cheapest was 8 years ago in September . . . $69.00 each way. Those days are gone forever!:(

Remember on SW your bags "fly free". That makes a big difference for our family trip of 7. 7 x 50 = $350.00 more if we flew Delta!

Sunday, August 17th
Syracuse, NY to Orlando
Jetblue, non-stop flight, $190 pp

Sunday, August 31st
Orlando to Syracuse
Jetblue, non-stop flight, $238 pp

Total, round trip: $428 pp :faint: . I don't even like to type the number. Kinda painful :rolleyes2 . Even worse? Those same flights are now $840 pp, return. $840!!!!! I kid you not! $395 down, $445 home. Ridiculous!

Thankfully, we had enough TrueBlue points to pay for 2 of our 3 SYR to MCO flights. So that knocked the overall total down to something reasonable.

August 2013 was $330 pp, round trip, non-stop both directions, same airline.

August 2012 was $290 pp, round trip, non-stop both directions, same airline.

August 2014 is much more expensive!! Glad this is our last year to be tied to the school calendar ::yes:: .

Someone asked what airline for the $200 RT from MPLS to MCO...it's Southwest...although delta and sun country did have some competitive dates, but not good flight times when I searched.

We got the $200 a ticket for 4/6-11. Can't believe it! Direct, leaves at 9:25 and departure time is 3:20...unreal. Free bags??!!! YES PLEASE!!! And it departs from a smaller, less drowned terminal, which we love. Helped make this trip possible!

Currently looking at $4200 for 4 return from Ireland :scared1:

This is why we take long holidays :lmao:

Totally understand! We're looking at about $700 each for 7 of us- with 3-4 layovers, for Soldotna, Alaska to Miami :)
We almost always pay more for our airfare than our cruise fare.

Thought a thread could be used to see what kind of rates people are paying. Please do not include frequent flyer but actual cost out of pocket for your airfare.

Please list the price, date and where you're flying out of as this might be helpful in budgeting. Thanks.

Are you asking about airfares to Orlando (you didn't say)? What other people are paying is not that useful, as people are going on many different airlines, at different times of the year and from different cities.

If you are specifically interested in fares from a certain city and a particular time of year, you should ask that. You'll get a better idea of what a good fare would be.

Yes to Orlando. That's the point of this thread is to see what people are paying for different times of the year and different cities. It would very helpful as I live in Michigan to know what others are paying from Detroit or Grand Rapids would be just a couple of examples.

YOu know you can just look on expedia to see what it would cost to fly from Detroit or Grand Rapids. ;)

May or may not be useful, but it is interesting to see.

:) Bought them 5 minutes ago. DH and myself, Southwest, MSY ( New Orleans) to MCO $109 pp, one way non stop. Dates for return trip are not available yet. We also get EBCI so add $12.50 each. Total was $243. I didn't think that was bad.

Oct 22-11/1

Happy travels everyone. ::yes::

Chicago to Orlando in August 2014 just under 300 on southwest(AirTran) nonstop. Cheaper than our flights a year ago and assigned seats. Not too bad.

United EWR to PBI on 6/19 returning from MCO to EWR on 7/4 for 5.....paid $252 each. Booked 2 days ago. Price was a little higher a few weeks ago and then went up to low 300's. As soon as it dropped again, I booked it.:cool1:

United- San Francisco to Orlando mid June return two weeks later: $466 per person. With fees: $523 per person.

This is why we usually go to DLR! Jet Blue or SW would have been a little cheaper but they were not direct flights. Jet Blue goes to Boston first! Crazy! So it was worth the little extra to fly on United, the only airline we found to fly direct to Orlando.

Delta May 5-12 from LWS>SLC>MCO $501 (was hoping for $500 or less)
I would sure LOVE to pay what some of you folks pay for a non-stop ticket! ;)
But not the cost to fly from Ireland, LOL!

Alexandria, LA to Atlanta to Orlando $1400 ($350 each) for 4 people round trip on Delta 5/17-5/25 booked in January. Today's price for the same tickets are $2900!!

May 1 to 10. United EWR to MCO. $236 roundtrip per person. Purchased in early February.
