My girls are HUGE teddy bear fans! What are the prices like for the teddy bears in the Epcot Germany stores? I have no idea what to expect. I think the store name is Der Teddy Bar? Thanks! :goodvibes

I believe, and don't quote me, they are somewhere around $30-50 and up depending on how you have them built. Maybe somebody will reply who has bought one recently? Germany is my favorite spot, but my specialty is the restaurant and the wine shop.

Hi! Do you mean a traditional kind of teddy bear, or the other animals? I have photos of some but not sure if they are what you want. I wanted to buy one but I seem to remember being put off by the prices. For one of the little mice it was $25! $45 for the little chick next to the lamb in the 2nd pic.

Wow, that's a lot of money for a tiny mouse! Yikes. Are those the Steiff bears/animals? Maybe I'll just let them pick out a cheaper bear then :goodvibes Thanks so much for the info! Take care.

Don't mean to hijack the thread, but does anyone know how much the minnie/mickey steiff stuffed animals are in germany? i saw them there last year behind the counter.

Last trip my husband bought my daughter a steiff teddy bear. Not the mohair but the plush. He is about 10" tall and DD who was 3 1/2 at the time, named him "Teddy". He was about $23. They have bears in all different price ranges.

Great! That's what I wanted to know for sure, the cost. Honestly, the don't know the difference between a Steiff bear and a beanie babie bear from Cracker Barrel! :goodvibes

Also just an FYI- we got an adorable teddy for my son on one of our trips in the UK shop at Epcot. HE was def under 20 and in a beefeater costume (he left his teddy at home and was having withdrawaL)

Well, our beanie bear from Cracker Barrel is priceless. DD has had him since she was three months old and she is now heading on seven. He goes on all the trips with us. This past April for our Disney trip, he had his own set of ears. He is truly a part of the family.

PS we do have a Steiff animals, but they are not as loved nor as priceless ;)

The animals that are out of the shelves are also Stieff - but the more affordable version. I bought a good sized hedgehog for about $35 in March. I was eyeing the Minnie Mouse behind the counter - but I think she was about $250!

Oh goodness! I didn't mean to imply that a Cracker Barrel beanie was less important. We have several too that are well loved. I simply meant that to a child, they don't see the price tag of something, they love it no matter the cost. A Steiff obviously "seems" more valuable to a parent since we're paying more for it. Know what I mean? Sorry if I offended! :goodvibes

Steiff now makes some of their bears overseas (China I believe though it could be somewhere else in Asia). Those are the cheaper versions you can purchase at Epcot and other places. The ones behind the counter are very pricey because they're made in Germany and are valued by collectors. They're not soft and cuddly at all, though they are quite beautiful in their traditional and unique way.

Minnie and Mickey are each about $350. My daughter had $250 on our Easter trip and she was disappointed I wouldn't float her the needed $100.:rotfl: They are limited ed - a pretty large edition IMO but I don't remember exactly the number, just that I wasn't impressed with the "limit" at that time for the price - and they come with a trading pin. :)

My DD did wind up buying a bear that was $165 and he is about 14 inches tall. Just a simple but cute & classic brown mohair bear.

My girls twisted DH's arm and they wound up making dolls in that store, too. The dolls are LOVELY and they are $145. They are the size of AG dolls but much better quality with handmade clothing in traditional costumes.

Wow! I'm not sure I can convince my DH to spend that much on bears for all 3 of our girls, especially given we're staying at the Grand Floridian and on the deluxe dining plan! :goodvibes Ooooh, the little girl in me would LOVE to make one of those dolls though. Thanks for the info! Take care! :goodvibes

Steiff toys were my toy of choice growing up (I was not a doll child). I have several dozen and used to pore over the new catalogue for months. My dream was to have the riding bear (I got the riding donkey instead, not a bad second) My family has the Mecki family, Zotty, Jocko and several others of the most beloved Steiff animals.

The ones at Epcot are a small selection and honestly very high priced compared to buying Steiff elsewhere. But if you cannot get to Germany any time soon and need one, then buy one - they are something still special. And they sometimes carry the very small keychain sized ones.

Well you will LOVE the Grand Floridian. That's always our resort of choice.:goodvibes It's wonderful.

THOSE are what I buy for myself, LOL. :thumbsup2 The girls get to go all out. I go cheap on my souvies. (although they are expensive for keychains! I think they are $12) They carry an adorable variety of Steiff key chains.:)

I think all the WS stuff at Epcot is way overpriced.;) I own several Dale sweaters (from NOrway) and paid 1/2 what they sell for at Epcot.:sad2:

Thanks! I am SO excited to stay at the Grand Floridian! It's the one resort I remember from my childhood that always looked so amazingly elegant and beautiful. Originally we were thinking of going to the Yacht Club in November and when the travel agent priced it out for me, I told DH the cost. He said, heck for 200 hundred more we can stay at the Grand Floridian! Needless to say, I didn't argue with that!!! I just can't wait, I know my girls will LOVE it there. Now if only November would hurry up and get here! :goodvibes
