How Much are Beignets on the Wonder?

As the title asks.
We're thinking of stopping by the new french quarter lounge and sampling beignets and hurricanes.

If I remember correctly from last week, at the French Quarter Lounge it was something like 1 for $1.25, 2 for @2.25, and 3 for $3.

There was also a happy hour deal at 8am for a couple of beignets and a coffee in the morning. The French Quarter Lounge staff were consistently underprepared and overwhelmed every day -- even though it seemed popular and the queue was not that large, it took about forever. For an item making them money, there seemed to be zero plan to have any ready despite seeing people going every day. One day after waiting over 20 minutes with no beignets and no coffee, i asked to have my KTTW card back (that had been in the hands of the CM over 20 minutes). White suit Marko explained to me that they were made to order, but had no explanation on why the process was so broken every day. I gave up after that.

when was that?

We were on the WBPC; the prices MrMarcus stated is what we paid too. It's probably b/c the WBPC was not at full capacity, but I had excellent service in the FQ Lounge; it was never crowded and I got my food/drinks quickly. The happy hour special was $4.50, so $5.31 with auto gratuity. I got this a few times.

I think the beignets at Tiana's were slightly better, but I'm not that picky as to turn down any kind of sweet fried dough, lol.

Is this new? Definitely new to me! I haven’t been on the Wonder since 2010 but will be sailing in October. Also, is this where Promenade Lounge used to be?

New to you, I think it's been there since 2019,
And yes, I do believe it replaced Promenade Lounge, from the pics I've seen I really like the "new" look.

It’s a really nice space that was added in the dry dock in 2019 (?)

Some of the coffees are served with a macaron or two also! I don’t remember specifically which ones. I will say the chocolate sauce served with my beignets at the French quarter was not great, the one in Tiana’s is much better. I think at the lounge it was essentially Hershey’s syrup.

My reference to the French Quarter experience was on the Alaska cruise the week of Aug 08, 2022.

The CMs must have been having a bad week -- on the first sea day on the FQ a CM took a beverage order, came back to say they were out of that beer on tap... ordered another in a can, and then she came back and said they were out of that one, too. I understand that supplies are limited on a ship and am fine if they say that up front, but this CM works the FQ all the time, and there is a limited set of items on their menu, so it was just disappointing that she was struggling on knowing for the few items that they listed that they were out of the first two I requested.

However, outside of these particular experiences in the FQ, I have really enjoyed the FQ lounge on other cruises. As a bonus, it is family friendly, as they do crafts and other things there as well.

When available, I do like the beignets in the FQ. I also agree with the earlier comments that the Tiana’s has better beignets and chocolate, and as I observed the CM using a Hershey's syrup bottle to pour chocolate into a cup for the beignets in the FQ, that is also confirmed.

Thank you for the heads up on the happy hour, sounds like just what we need.

All this talk of chocolate syrup has me concerned - these are still drenched in powdered sugar right?

I Love macarons! I can always ask which coffees they're available with.

Don't suppose you know what the La Boufff Favorite is? I saw it on the menu, but Google didn't seem to have the answer and there was no description.

I looked this up previously, can't remember where I found it though! I believe it's a coffee, macaron(s), beignet(s), madeleine or some other treat, and a shot of some sort of coffee liqueur. Not entirely sure, but it is a few things!

maybe "drenched" isn't quite the right word, although I do think you can ask for more sugar. I'm glad MrMarcus confirmed, b/c I too saw the Hershey's bottle.

Here are the pics I took of my beignet experience on the Wonder:

Takeout to my balcony - with takeout cup (no macaron)

At the FQ Lounge - it's possible a (small) macaron comes with all of the coffees when you dine there...

While I am at it, here are the beignets at Tiana's. The syrup was much, much nicer.

Speaking of drenched in sugar, here are my beignets from Cafe du Monde in NOLA, same trip:
