How much are AP discounts on additional theme park tickets?

Have seen some people say they buy one AP, then the rest of the family gets regular tickets. Can't see how that's worth it?? Anyone have details about this? 1- what is the discount? 2- can the additional tickets be purchased online (w/code?) 3- And does this apply to 3 park unlimited pass? We are staying 7 nights and this looks like the only ticket to cover our stay
(I have Amex and AAA so don't need AP for food/merch discounts)

I sort of wonder about this too. My DD and I have APs.
I have to buy two three day tickets for part of my family. I'm thinking the Undercover Tourist discount (about $40 off each) is probably going to be better, but is it?

It all depends on what ticket you are getting. The AP discounts are off of gate price. Since 3 park tickets are not sold at the gate, there are no discounts. You can't get the AP discount online, but apparently you can call the AP line and do it. You have to do the math to see what is the best deal for you. You can determine gate price by adding $20 to the online price. Don't forget to add tax also if you are comparing to UT tickets since they are all inclusive.
