DAR ES SALAAM (Reuters) - A Tanzanian woman rescued her husband who tried to hang himself after she caught him having sex with another woman, a police officer said in remarks published Saturday.
The 35-year-old tried to kill himself in the commercial capital Dar es Salaam after his wife surprised him with his mistress, but the wife cut him down, regional police commissioner Alfred Tibaigana said.
"Rather than face the wrath of a woman spurned or the brunt of being accused of marital infidelity, the man chose to meet his maker," the Guardian newspaper quoted Tibaigana as saying.
Tibaigana said the man was treated in hospital and would be charged with attempting suicide once he recovered. Attempting suicide is against the law in Tanzania.

I would. As horrible as it would be to find my husband with another woman, I wouldn't want him dead, especially since we have a child. I would still want him to be a part of our daughters life. I might like to cut his ball$ off though, lol.

hmmm... there's no telling if she was doing it to save him or to save herself. First, she might have been thinking she might be investigated for murder if he died. Second, maybe she worried about what her life would be like without a husband. As many women in the US who fear singlehood enough to stay with horrible men, I can only imagine how bad women in other countries might have it once there is no man in their life. Hmmmm

Sad how it is a crime to try to commit suicide but not a crime to commit adultery

I hope che cut him down so he would have to face the shame of what he had done

We did pre-marital counceling before we got married due to our church. One question we were asked is if we would automatically leave if the spouse cheated on the other... both of us said no. Given that, I wouldn't want him to die. He may have messed up, but not worth dying over.

Personally, I would cut him down too. There could have been many reason she decided to do that...one of which is he has a huge life insurance policy that doesn't give her a penny if he commits suicide. I would cut him down because it's not worth ending your life over. So you were caught, big deal. So your wife's going to be PO'd, she'll eventually get over it. If she doesn't, then get a divorce and move on. Unless he was affraid if she filed for a divorce she would sue him for every penny he has. Or maybe they signed a prenup that said if he ever commited adultry she would automatically get everything so she was just saving him so she could get his money? My only reason for doing it would just be because I love my husband too much to see him die. I would be mad at him, sure, but I wouldn't want to see him dead over it.

My h hid his gun when he told me he was leaving. I thought that was rather funny.
But I would have cut him down too. If anything it wasn't fair that he didn't give her the option on killing him. He took the easy way out.

You can't collect on someone's Life Insurance Policy if they have committed suicide, right?

I don't know about all insurance policies, but I have a friend whose DH committed suicide and she got the entire insurance policy.

Actually in some cultures if a man is busted with a mistress he gets his goodies cut off.

I would cut him down. I can't picture me letting anyone or anything die if I can save them. It sure wouldn't mean I forgave him though.
