How many UYs in advance can you borrow points from?

I have a Dec UY. I have used all my Dec'10 points and have 28 points left for my Dec'11 UY. I have all my Dec'12 points and all my Dec'13 points left (obviously).

I plan on booking a Jan 2012 vacation later this month and got to thinking....wonder how far in advance (i.e., Use Years) can I borrow points?? Is there a max (e.g., 2 UYs beyond the UY we are in)? Or something similar?

My Jan 2012 trip will use up the 28 points in Dec'11 UY and I'll borrow the rest from my Dec'12. But.....could I plan more trips and keep borrowing Is that the way to avoid addonitis?

Good to know - after I posted, I checked the DVC site and it shows I can borrow Dec'12 AND Dec'13 points. I'll have to make sure when I call later this month that they will let me borrow Dec'12 points for my Jan '12 reservation.

A trip in Jan 2012 falls within your Dec 2011 Use Year. You can use Dec 2011 points, Dec 2010 points that you banked into Dec 2011 and you can borrow points from Dec 2012.

I'm still going to ask about why the website shows I can also borrow my Dec'13 points. Perhaps the rule of one year in advance has been modified????

You could borrow your 2013 points into 2012. But not into 2011.

So they are borrowable - but not for when you want them.

I believe the website is simply showing that there aren't any restrictions on those points and if they qualified to be borrowed then they could be.

your dec 13 points are typically good for stays from dec 1, 2013 through nov 30, 2014. you may borrow them to book a stay from dec 1, 2012 through nov 30, 2013 if you like.

BUT if you are more than 11 months out from dec 1, 2012, you are limited by the home resort window so you can't borrow from your 2013 use year yet.
