If you are a family of 4 staying from Sunday thru Thursday, how many towels would there be in the room when you arrived?

yes - if you need clean towels and are staying in a studio -then the laundry mat is free. You just need to bring your own detergent and fabric softenor. WDW has them but very, very expensive.

the washer/dryer in the laundry room looks like it takes money - but trust me - it doesn't. Works just like the ones in the laundry rooms across country (without money).

if you have a 1-bedroom - even easier - just load up the washer that evening after one has taken their shower and the next morning load up the dryer on the way to the parks. If you have clothes that need to be wash just load up the washer in the morning, then that evening load up the dryer.

the washer/dryer is in the room.

Thanks! So you only get enough towels for 1 day.

Right, you can either reuse them, wash them yourself, order a towel package for $6 or order trash & towel service for $10 a day. You will get a trash & towel service on Wednesday included.

I think they are WAYYYYYYYY chintzy with the towel issue, even with the washerand dryer available. I will probably pay for extra towels next time since we will have a lot of people staying in a Grand Villa at OKW...maybe even pay for extra T&T service, too (still $10 per visit whether in studio or Grand Villa which seems a little weird...changing out 4 bath/4handtowels in studio versus changing out 16 bath/16 handtowels in GV??!!!Hmmmm....) My issue has never beeen that I need fresh towels everyday but I just need MORE than the initial supply.

the dvc member voted on it. everytime a member asks for more towels - it costs. the membership decided that the person asking should pay the costs not the entire membership.

go get towels at the pool - just remember to return them before you leave!!!

Don't forget all expenses come out of the member dues. So by being "chintzy" they are keeping our dues down. It's part of the "pay as you play" program, which means member who want additional services pay for them rather than the entire membership.

You can always get pool towels and take them to your room and return them to the pool bin when finished.

DVC would rather people not get the pool towels as they cost far more to launder than the regular towels or so DVC administration says.

I am clueless. Why do pool towels cost more to launder?

What we always run low on is the hand towels. Are you sure there are four? What about washcloths? I swear some of those are there... Maybe two washcloths and 2 hand towels?

This trip I am packing a few extra of my OWN hand towels, in bright blue so I don't mix them up with Mickey's. I will hide them on T&T day so the ladies don't take them... One more thing to remember!

I'd bet you only get two hand towels and two, maybe four, facecloths. One tubmat for each bathing facility (jacuzzi tub and shower in the one bedroom, tub/shower combo in the studio or second bedroom).

I think the pool towels are more expensive to launder because of the sunscreen, soda, etc spilled on or wiped up by them. They get more ground in dirt because people stand on them while they get their feet dried off to put their shoes on.

We usually get 4 bath towels, 4 washcloths but only 2 hand towels. We usually bring some extra washcloths, in bright colors so they won't get mixed up.

its kinda of sad that our maintainance fees pay for so little room service. the whole towel issue is so ridiculous. i mean im sure that disney has worked it out and figured its not cost efficient for them to provide fresh towels everyday..but when i think about all the complaints i've heard on these boards over the weeks about beds and towels and other in room issues i begin to wonder what are the dues ACTUALLY paying for? :confused3

Hate to think that the room towels one uses after one is bathing are laundered to level that is sub par compared to pool towels. There is such a misuse/poor use of pool towels, there is an aurgument to be made that a once in a blue moon room use seems more effective use of them than thowing lots of unused towels to save chairs instead of being used to dry people off. If you wanted to, you could use the extra pool towels in such a manner that it did not cause additional washing. Your could take them to your room, let them dry, use them, let them dry, and take them back with you to the pool for your use there before placing them in the bin. No additional washing involved, just extra use if you do not mind mutiple use of the same towel. If your really in need, it's a possibility, I'm not seriously advocating widespread use and misuse. We happen to like the advantage of a one bedroom washer and dryer and daily towel washing.

Matt Gibbs, when he was VP, told me that the sanitation standards for pool towels was higher than regular towels, I took his word for it at the time.

We actually had 6 bath towels in the 1bd portion of our 2 br in June. They put a couple in pile on the jacuzzi tub in addition to the others. Last year when we were at the BW, the mousekeepers told us if we needed more towels, just get some off their cart.
