That's a great idea, especially if you're saying in a regular DVC Resort.

This is where I think that DVC could easily be a factor for us in the DDP not being the best deal. We have a full kitchen in our villa. The kids eat while the adults are getting dressed and vice versa. That way we aren't all getting ready and then heading to the CS location for breakfast. Being that we usually do rope drops, it saves us time in the morning. Like I said though, DVC is certainly a factor and with a full kitchen and toaster it's different than staying in a standard room.

That is true. We rented points last summer and stayed at BWV and got the meal plan. I found it difficult to use the CS credits because there aren't as many CS options at DVC resorts IMO.

Some people are just not used to eating out a lot. We eat out one a week and that is a lot for us. Eating out, just about every meal, was too much for us. We enjoyed the plan when we got it for free, but we would never pay for it as we do breakfast and lunch back in the room at the resort. Dinner is usually a CS in whichever park we end up at that night. Since we always go back to the resort mid day, it is easier just to make a sandwich and grab a peice of fruit than try to find a place to eat.

I thought it also took a lot of our time away trying to eat a TS every day. We would rather use that time having fun than eating, but that is just us! We still pay for at least one character TS when we are there for breakfast for the fun experience of the characters. This time we plan on the Princess Storybook breakfast.

People reading this should be advised that not all DVC villas have a full kitchen. Studio rooms have a kitchenette with a microwave. Just in case somebody's thinking about renting points so they can have a kitchen.

I'm amazed by the number of people who don't take food to go...

I guess having a car helps, but even if we're using buses or whatnot, we've never had an issue with carrying leftovers. When we order our appetizers/desserts (sometimes entrees) we tell the server what we want boxed up from the start. We share what comes out and take the boxes "home" with us for future meals. We generally save the snacks until the last day where we cash them in for goodies for the trip home. We appreciate that we can eat for a few days after on what we took with us from the DDP.

You must be going back to your room right after dinner. I know taking it with us doesn't work because we generally eat dinner and then go right to a park. We've also used Disney Transporation in the past and would have lugged that around the parks.

Now this trip we'll have a car, and by the time we get back to our room the food will be improperly stored for hours and we'll run the risk of food poisoning if we eat our leftovers.

That's a great idea though for when you're going back to your room right away.

I don't take food to go. I am generally not going back to my resort and I don't get back there until around 2 AM. Carrying food around for that long...not gonna do it. If you're onsite and in a value resort, you don't have a refrigerator unless you bought one. If you're in anything but a DVC resort, you don't have a way to reheat anything.

We order these pretty desserts after our dinner at Ohana (before they changed the policy). Since we were stuffed, I asked for them to go

After dinner we headed over to the MK for Spectromagic, Wishes and EMHs.
Once we got into the park, I realized I would be stuck holding that box all night unless I tossed it into a locker. I have no desire to eat desserts that have been sitting in a hot locker for several hours.

My son took one bite of each before I tossed them into the nearest garbage can.

We always have an early lunch or dinner then head back to the parks. If we don't have room for the dessert while we're having our meal, we'll just skip it.
