How many times a week do you...

We're a family of 4: Me 31, DH 30, DD 10 and DD 3.

Run the dishwasher: We don't have a dishwasher, I don't care for them. We wash dishes once everyday during the week and several times a day during the weekend.
Wash clothes: We have four hampers; one for hubby and I, one for oldest daughter, one for youngest daugther and one for towels and sheets. I believe clothes and towels shouldn't mix. YUCK!!! I do laundry 1-2 times a week. I'm off every Friday, so while at home I can do at least 2-3 hampers during the day. I haven't done much this week due to the fact that my in-laws are visiting and we haven't been home much. I do have my oldest daughters laundry in the wash now tho.
Vaccum: Downstairs twice a week; upstairs once a week
Sweep: A couple times a week
Change the bedding: once every 2-3 weeks; I do clean pillow cases more often.
Clean the bathroom really well: deep cleaning once a week but I wipe down every few days.
Dusting: once a week
Clean fish tank: GROSS-YUCK!!! Hubby does it and boy do I wish I could get him to do it on a more regular basis. It's clean now but only because my in-laws are here visiting from Holland and they cleaned it one day while we were at work. How embarassing!

Interesting thread!
We are a family of 5 kids 11, 8, 5 and DH and I
DH works full time and then some as he owns his own business. He is useless around the house in that he contributes nothing, but leaves a mess everywhere....I work full time too, and then some (since I do EVERYTHING around the house, all the shopping all the errands and all the yardwork). I also have a second part time job teaching night courses in the winter when DH is not so busy. Anyway, now that I have justified why I'm not so clean as many others on here:rolleyes1

Dishwasher - daily and sometimes twice daily, we seem to go through a LOT of dishes, and I don't handwash, it all goes in.
Laundry - once a week unless I really want something mid-week, I save it all up for the weekend and do a laundry spree of 10 or 15 loads (we seem to go through a lot of clothes too, and towels like mad!) I HATE laundry, hate the washing, the drying the folding and the putting away is the WORST:headache:
Vaccum - thankfully we have mostly hardwoods, so easy to keep up, since I only vaccum once a week, on the weekend. Sweep the high traffic areas mostly every night though.
Clean the bathroom - once a week for deep clean (you guessed it, on the weekend, which as you might have seen by now is a blur of cleaning and laundry and running around) but wipe down the counter and taps daily, and the toilet when it looks dirty (which is usually daily with the boys)
Change the beds - once a week, unless the kids don't strip theirs and I forget to do it. (They are supposed to put out all their laundry and their sheets on Saturday morning and tidy off their floors so I can vacuum, but it is a bit of a process for DD, she never seems to get it done, and thus here it is Sunday night, and her sheets are the only ones that haven't been changed, and her floor the only one not vaccumed.....)

I've just recently put my foot down with DH and said he either needs to contribute more, or pay for a housekeeper. He has chosen to pay, and actually I have a lady coming around this week, so I think next weekend I will be much happier!!! :cool1:

Run the dishwasher: Everyday, sometimes twice a day
Wash clothes: At least 1 load a day
Vaccum/sweep: Every day
Change the bedding: once a week, sometimes a few days longer
Clean the bathroom really well: Quick wipe down a few times a week (daycare bathroom daily), deep clean every other

Granted, I do run a home daycare so I do have to do the above more then most people.;)

We have 2 adults and 2 kids, 3 dogs and a cat (plus two guppies, but they don't make a mess)

dishwasher - everyday, because it's full by the end of the day
laundry - I would say I average 1.5 loads a day. I may not do it one day, but the next day I'll have 2 or 3 loads.
vacuum - main floor every day, upstairs and basment twice a week
sweep - I usually run my vacuum over the tile floors when I'm vacuuming
bathrooms - wipe everything down every other day, good cleaning once a week
dusting - once a month
change the bedding - on our bed, every third day, because the dogs get on our bed. The kids bedding I do once a week, because the dogs don't get on their beds.

YIKES- you use a fresh towel every day? Can I ask why?

I do too!! I can't stand reusing a towel. It seems dirty to me, and I REALLY hate it if it's still wet. Oh, and I do the same with my kids. It drive my dh nuts...he reuses. I even use a new towel if I take more than one shower/bath in one day. If I take a shower in the morning, and then later a jacuzi bath, I use two different towels.

Run the dishwasher: Every other day or every 3 days depending.
Wash clothes: Two times a week.
Vaccum: Only when I have to!:rotfl2: DH vaccums almost every day somewhere in the house.:thumbsup2
Sweep: As needed, several times a week
Change the bedding: About every 2 weeks unless someone's been sick.
Clean the bathroom really well: Once a week.

2 adults, 2 kids and a furry white dog.

Here's my list... Family of four, DH, me, DD15, and DS12

Dishwasher - Every other day, and I hand wash all knives (knives are not suppose to be done in the dishwasher), pots/pans, special glasses.
Laundry - 4 loads per day, washed, dried, hung dry when needed, but I do not put them away... If its yours the rule is it must be put away the day it is washed. I DO NOT iron!! Well for funerals I do.
Vaccum - Every other day, sweep kitchen floor daily, wash on hands and knees once a month, and the kids have hardwood floors in their rooms which they clean once a week. (usually they vacuum them)
Clean the bathroom - once a week for deep clean, wipe down the sink, toilet top nightly, and DH scrubs the tub every other week.
Change the beds - Well this one is kind of strange. DD and DS refuse to have sheets on their beds, so I wash their blankets every other week. DH sleeps in our bed which I change when he brings them down. I am unable to do stairs right now so I sleep on the couch. Pillow cases get washed twice a week though...

Now here's the kicker, I don't consider myself doing more than normal and even my mom says I am not up to her standards. I don't scrub my cupboards and only dust once a week. I usually only really scrub down the appliances if company is coming... I wipe spills and stuff immediately though....

Oh yeah, I do the countertop daily with Lysol/Clorox cleaner to stop cross contamination.

Heres what my mum does:

Wash clothes: Daily, Darks and Lights
Vaccum: Once a Week, Hole House (6 Bedroom house)
Sweep: Kind of not a scheduled thing. Dad does lawns weekly and both parents work on the gardens etc frequently
Change the bedding: Supposedly weekly, but closer to bi-weekly.
Clean the bathroom really well: Every Monday

I live in a 96 year old Villa and the dusting weekly gets put to us children :S

Lots and lots of dust :S :S

I find myself running the dishwasher every day
I do the laundry 1x per week - but I am going at least 4 loads that day
Vacuum, 1x per week but it could really use it at least 2x (I have a messy dd)
All the other cleaning (i.e. bathrooms, floors, etc) I get done 1x per week

Run the dishwasher: Before it broke I ran it 1 to 2 times a day now I wash dishes twice a day

Wash clothes: I do it about every other day I have around 10 loads a week

Vaccum: Every Other Day

Sweep: every day

Change the bedding: once a week

Clean the bathroom really well: Every Day

We are a family of 3 (me, Dh, DS2) and I have a cleaning lady that does a fantastic job and comes in every other week. I do a little bit of spot cleaning on her off weeks but I try not to do too much cleaning :rotfl:

BTW, we keep or house pretty organized and clean normally, so it isn't too bad. Also, we are usually only home in the evenings during the week since we both work FT so that helps keep the house cleaner for longer.....

Run the dishwasher: Usually every night when I go to bed
Wash clothes: One load a day usually
Vaccum: Downstairs about once a week, my cleaning lady does a thorough job when she comes
Sweep: Again, my cleaning lady does a throrough job, I only do it if needed
Change the bedding: Every other week...try to do the pillowcases weekly
Clean the bathroom really well: Wipe down before company comes and about once a week, it gets thoroughly cleaned every other week by the cleaning lady

Run the dishwasher: Ours isn't working right now:( but I wash about 3 loads of dishes a day....:(

Wash clothes: 2 loads a day
Vaccum: once daily
Sweep: 3 times a day....:furious:
Mop: once a day....:furious:
Change the bedding: Once every 9-10 days
Clean the bathroom really well: twice a week

and my DH is constantly complaining that it is not clean enough.....

There are 11 in my household, 2 adults, 4 (9, 4, 18 months, 6 months) children, and 5 furry children (dogs).

I am a neat freak! I can't stand anything to be dirty or out of place. If you ever come to my house don't be offended, but the lysol can will be out spraying everything you touched after you leave and if you used my bathroom it will be bleached. Don't ask me why. I have no idea. That's just me.

Run the dishwasher: Twice a day. Once after lunch and once after dinner. If the dishwasher is not full I don't run it. However, I usually have the dishwasher full with some leftover. Between all of us with glasses, bottles, dog bowls, its usually full. I also make my babies food myself so I have a lot of plastic things from the freezer, and the food processor is dirty on a daily basis.
Wash clothes: I do 2 loads a day but if I get behind I do laundry until I'm caught up.
Vaccum: Downstairs gets vacuumed every morning while the kids are eating breakfast. This way if there is anything small or dangerous on the floor I see it before I put the baby in there.
Sweep: I sweep twice a day. Once in the morning and once before bed. Dog hair gets everywhere. Somehow it always gathers along the walls.
Change the bedding: Every week. The babies bedding gets done twice a week.
The bathrooms get cleaned daily. I can't stand dirty bathrooms. The sinks get cleaned, bathtub, shower, toilet. Everything.
The kitchen is also getting cleaned constantly, the same as the bathroom. Can't stand a dirty kitchen.
I could go on and on. I hate messes. I don't have a cleaning lady because they don't do it the way I like it. I've tried 4 different ones and it just doesn't work out.

It's me, DH & DS 20 months - DH has his own business and I work full time, so alot of cleaning is done on weekends or at night after son goes to bed - Since I work I'd rather spend time with son.

Laundry - about 5-6 loads once a week on weekend - sometimes I will do small loads during week if son has an accident or something needs to be cleaned or will be away during the weekend.

Dishes - I rinse dishes well before putting in dishwasher and then run when it's full or we run out of silverware! Usually once to twice a week. DH and I also use paper plates - makes for faster cleanup.

Floors - We have all wood floors - DH is in floor business so he usually keeps them up. I sweep whenever I see they need it - I sweep evey day under the area wher my son eats! Son has an area rug in his room - I vacuum whenever it needs it. I sweep kitchen floor almost every night after dinner. Try to wash it once a week - am not alwasy successful with that.

Bathroom - I try to clean it on a regular basis - love those scrubbing bubbles and disinfectant wipes. Every couple of weeks or so I give it one "big scrubbing". I do the same with with the kicthen. Every night I clean counters with disinfectant wipes.

Sheets - I wash DS sheets once a week or so - DH & I have a king size bed and the sheets are so big and such - don't wash as often as I should I guess.

Basically as a working mom I want to keep my house clean, but time with my son is most important. So I try to clean as I go, but realize there are times I just have to let it go so I can give my son the time and attention he needs.

One thing you don't have on the list - picking up toys after a 20 month old...CONSTANT!

Run the dishwasher: At least once a day probably twice on weekends
Wash clothes: Every day-I do at least 10 loads a week
Vaccum: I vacuum every day
Sweep: I vaccum instead of sweep
Change the bedding: Every 10 days or so-aim for weekly but it doesn't happen
Clean the bathroom really well: Once a week but I wipe it down a couple more times than that

There are 6 of us living here though.

I just don't know what I'm missing here!!! I mean, I totally know that I need to be a better housekeeper, especially since I am pretty much a SAHM (I have an event planning business, but its from home), but some of you are kinda nuts!!! :rotfl2:
I admit that I should be cleaning my bathrooms more than I do, and DD is 20 months, and I don't even know if I had ever changed her bedding more than twice :scared1: (I just did it last night along with DD3 and the master bedrooms), and the kitchen has tupperware on the butcher block at all times because frankly I can't reach to put it away, and DH NEVER does it for me, and my neighbors 2 year old son came into my house yesterday, and said "Woah, MESSY!" (ofcourse he was talking about my girls play room) but I mean, one person said that they run the dishwasher twice a day, once after lunch, then once after dinner, and (correct me if I'm wrong) suggested that its full both times. What are you doing, cooking with every pot, pan, dish and utencil in the house??!? I thought I was bad!!! :confused3 :goodvibes
Another person said that they do a wash every single day just for their own clothes.... Do you only have one pair of panties and one pair of sox?? Can't it wait a couple of days?? :confused3 :goodvibes
I don't know, I'm not a hippie or anything, but I just couldn't stand to waist water like that, even if its from my own well, or whatever. I mean, I'm not like my neighbors son who does bathe because he doesn't want to waist water (hes a stinkie one!!) - I take at least one to two showers a day because I work out 2x a day, but I make them quick...
I'm just rambling now... maybe I'm just jelous because you all are much better housekeepers than me! At least its taught me one thing - I need to make a weekly list of what should be done in the house, and acutally do them! Bathroom, kitchen, vaccuming, sweeping, picking up, etc
So thanks! ..... though I still think some of you are nuts!!! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :goodvibes

Run the dishwasher: UGH! No Dishwasher!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I do dishes EVERY DAY, usually after every meal.

Wash clothes: Usually once a day, maybe every other.

Vaccum: I have a swivel sweeper which I do about every other day.

Sweep: see previous answer.

Change the bedding: Not often enough, maybe a little over a month.

Clean the bathroom really well: Once a week

With just the two of us, we:

1. Run dishwasher about 2 to 3x a week depending if we have company (weekend) or not.

2. Change sheets 2x a week. I love clean sheets/pillowcases so this is a big deal to me.

3. Bathrooms get cleaned once a week.

4. Vacumning the high traffic areas are done daily but the rest is done once a week. My dh does the once a week vacumning.

5. Moping gets done only when my dh does it, which is about one a month.

6. Laundry is done daily so I don't have a huge amount accumilated for the end of the week.

I need a housekeeper because I love to have a clean house but I am unable to do a lot of the heavier stuff.

Our family is me, dh, ds6 and dd2.

Run the dishwasher: Once per day.

Wash clothes: About 10 loads per week.

Vaccum: 2-3 times per week (carpets)

Sweep: We swiffer the kitchen floor 1-2 times per day.

Change the bedding: Once a week-though it should be more often.

Clean the bathroom really well: Once a week (not enough).
