How many Tim Hortons in your neck of the woods?

My dd's today were counting and laughing about the number of Tim's in Chatham. They figure we're the Tim Horton's capital of Canada. We've got at least nine for our city of 40,000. Can anyone beat that?

Here in Woodstock, we have 4 Tim Hortons, with a 5th out on the 401 on the way to Ingersoll.

I was counting last night before i even saw this thread! lol.

I have 6 within 5 mins of my house. A new one just opened last weekend. Do we really need that many, i guess it is good for the fundraising that they do the the TH camps, but still!!

I think Hamilton has Chatham beat on the Tim Horton stores PoohBWV.

I found the following on a Tim Horton's website;

In 1997, there were 70 stores in Hamilton-Wentworth area alone. This works out to one store for every 7,081 people, which confirms the statements that Hamilton truly is the capital of coffee and doughnut stores.

It's a bit dated, since I believe the number of stores now is 78!! Hard to imagine!!

I just checked our phone directory - we've got 49 in London. Unlike the Hamilton numbers, though, that doesn't include the surrounding county as well. Still, if that number is correct and one assumes the population signs entering London are up-to-date, that gives us one store for every 6735 people, beating Hamilton. But it appears we've got a long ways to go to top Chatham.

There was a story about this in our paper the other day.Tim Horton's has announced that Hamilton is now a saturated market with 78 outlets in the "new city of Hamilton".

I just did a 411 computer check and Mississauga lists 47 Timmy's. I'm actually surprised we don't have more ~ as a consolation is KRISPY KREMES! S

DH's company (family general contracting business) built about a dozen Tim Horton's buildings, approx. 25 years ago. They're kind of sorry they didn't buy a franchise or two while they we at it........ahh....hindsight!

Moncton NB has a population of 59 313 and has 16 Tim Horton's

That is one Tim's for every 3707 people!

If you use the areas of Moncton, Dieppe and Riverview they have a population of 88088 people and 22 Tim Horton's so that is a Tim's for every 4003.6 people.

Oh my goodness....you guys must really like your donuts!!! There's almost a million people in Calgary and we only have 38 Tim Hortons!!

But that doesn't include the major saturation at the airport...there is 4 alone at the airport, so I guess we have 42 all together!

Interesting Timmies Story: (And if it's not, tough, your still reading this.) I was up in London at the beginning of August to set up a stage for the Village People, and I was at a Timmies there by the racetrack/slots. IT WAS ANCIENT!!!! I mean.. even the name, it was Tim Horton Donuts, not Tim Hortons. The building was really old too... It even had those red swivel stools inside, and no garbage cans inside either. There was only one, outside the doors. Lol.. it was really funny to eat in.

As a former district manager with Tim's I thought I would add my 2 cents. That old location in London must have an original franchisee as the company at one time had difficulty in attracting people (hard to believe isn't it?) and the contracts were written in a manner benefitting the franchisee. When I joined Tim's back in 85, their 1990 target of 500 stores was considered impossible to reach by many people in the company but was achieved in Jan. 91 (I believe). Although Hamilton had the original Tim's and the original training centre, Moncton has long been the highest per capita - when you counted the sites, did you include the arena? In 1985, there were 25 Tim's west of Ontario - so I do believe western Canada, although not having a high per capita, is leading the growth for Tim's. Anyways, this has been long winded and I need a coffee - now I drink Seattle's Best.
