I have my account set to automatically subscribe to every thread I post on, and I also subscribe to some threads I don't post on - usually informational threads. That way I can refer back to them again later fairly easily. I don't have to do that often, but sometimes it's fun to go back years to see what I and others were posting about. Or sometimes there is a specific thread that comes up for some reason that I need to look at again.
I really am unsure why everyone doesn't subscribe like that

. You can turn e-mail notifications off, so that really shouldn't be an issue. I don't see a reason for not doing it that way. A few years ago when Search went down for a very extended period, so many people were all in a panic because they couldn't search themselves

. I had a nice list of every thread I had participated in.
But I've argued that before on threads about subscriptions, and I've never have understood anyone's argument against it.
