How Many Ps's Is Too Many?

We're not going until Oct 06 and are staying onsite. I was wondering whether I should make a PS every day, so that we know we'll get a table, either at lunch or dinner, or should I just book a few and scatter them throughout the holiday.

I'm only asking because 3 years ago we went to DLP (before I discovered the boards and Simon's book) and went all out commando-style. We didn't even sit down to eat (I survived on supplies of Wine Gums). We DID see everything BUT we were only there for 3 days and were exhausted by the time we arrived home. SO, I'm definitely not doing that in WDW, but just need some advice about how many PS's to make, or should we sometimes be a little spontaneous???

Help please

I wouldnt make one per day. October isnt HUGELY busy, and you can make PSs on the day at Guest Services, as well as just turning up.

Previous experience has taught me that too many PSs is very restricting and you cant just "go with the flow". Somedays we would wake up with a real urge to go to Epcot (for example) but be hindered by a booked lunch PS at MK! Lunches are one meal that really doesnt need to PS'd, except at the busiest times (Xmas & Easter).

Make a few dinner ressies and possible a couple of breakfast ones. Places I ALWAYS PS would be Crystal Palace, Chef Mickeys, Park Fare, Ohana and Whispering Canyon cafe as these are all popular and are quite hard to get a "walk in".

Having a few PSs does give you little bit of structure to your plans, so maybe make one for each park and a couple of resorts to start off, then go with the flow??

I second the above, make PS's for places you really want to go, or that are hard to get.. breakfast springs to mind. Otherwise, especially in october you can usually get in on the day itself. Make a ps in the morning for that evening.

It also depends on how big your party is, 2 can usually get in most places.

I'd scatter..... sometimes it's just as much fun grabbing a quick bite. And I'm not sure, but it might already be the Food & Wine festival when you're there...

 im the opposite i have planned all our adr's already and even our counter service choices as well !!
i have turned into a compulsive planner tho thanks to these boards :rotfl:

Good question, I had planned on making a ps for dinner every other day and especially for thanksgiving, until Nov emh are out tho it'll definately be down to luck as to which park on which day

I always ensure I have a PS or know where I will be eating at least once a day :) Its part of the planning!

I have 14 PSs for my 19 day trip in August. I would not normally have made so many but I have been hearing that it will be busier than usual. I take the view that if I have a burning urge to go to a different theme park to the one I have a PS for, I will simply cancel it. No harm done, but at least I know I will get a table where I want one :)
