We are planning our first trip to WDW for next year and just wanted to get some feedback on how many dresses my little Princess will need. We are going to try to get reservations for CRT so I am planning on purchasing a Cinderella Costume. The other character meals we are hoping to attend are Chef Mickey and The Crystal Palace. If we don't get in to CRT we will try for Arkeshus (sp?) at Epcot. Does she need anymore than just the one? Do little girls wear the dresses around the parks just for fun? Any info is greatly appreciated.princess:

As many as you'd like to spoil her with. I did see young girls wearing them around the parks when I went in September, but if it is hot, they'll be very uncomfortable very quickly, so make sure you have regular clothes on hand.

You'd be fine with one dress, imo.

The one dress is more than enough. Wear it to the ADR at CRT, let her wear it for a little while in the park, but do yourself a BIG favor and bring extra clothes because she is going to want to change out of the dress before the day is over.

We have always just taken one princess dress on our trips (Aurora, Alice and Belle) the past 3 years. Yes, you will see some little girls with these outfits on all day, but I think they would feel miserable for the most part. It depends on the heat and what shoes you put on your dd, too. I will say that the Belle dress we got came from My Dress Up Trunk and it was the softest and most comfortable of the three. DD could have worn that all day if it hadn't been 85 degrees! (She picked the red Christmas dress.)

You can find lots of cute character shirts and outfits for the other meals that are very comfy!

I wouldn't bring more than one and agree on bringing a change of clothes to the park with you.

And, BTW, you don't really NEED any princess dresses. While it is cute for the little girls to dress up and you will likely get extra attention from the characters because of it, you should know that most little girls don't dress up.

Well I just got back with my niece (4) and we ended up with three. I bought two and brought them with me, Cinderella for BBB and Snow White for MNSSHP (I was the Evil Queen). When we got to BBB she fell in love with the Ariel green sparkle dress so I bought it and the crown for her (what can I say, I'm weak). She ended up wearing the Ariel dress for BBB, Cinderella for 1900 Park Fare, Snow White for MNSSHP and Ariel again for the Askerhaus Princess Breakfast. When she got home she wore Cinderella again for Trick or Treat and Ariel for her Halloween Party at school. She loves to play dress up so she'll get plenty of use out of them. The way I look at it she's only little once. Just make sure you bring a change of clothes with you. I found that she didn't want to wear the princess dresses all day. 3-4 hours tops.

We usually bring all that we've collected over the past few years. 2 different Jasmines, a Pocahontas, Cinderella, & Aurora. She usually wears them to the parks..even when we don't have a character meal. I throw another outfit in our bag but she never asks to change.

Just to add... Where else but Disney can they do that....The rest of the year they sit in the dress up bin so I'm really happy to see them used

Our first trip was in 2007, our daughter was 3 1/2. I packed 3 princess dress ups (from a dress up trunk!) four our 6 day trip. The first day we went to the parks she didn't want to wear one----then she saw lots of other girls wearing them. For the next 3 days she wore a dress up to the parks. The last 2 days were damp & chilly (January) so she wore pants. I found these to be great because the whole trunk cost less than one princess dress at disney -- so i didn't sweat it if they got messed up (and they did no). and they were much lighter weight than some of the dresses. This January we will bring at least 3 again.

Do you really NEED princess dresses - it's more of a WANT right? :confused3
