Hee, hee...

Here I am!

Couldn't get online last night because of a late workday and just had to hit the sheets!

At any rate, it looks like the number of points will probably have to be started for me in the 200-210 range. Like some of you mentioned, what I'll do is add-on from there.

I've been seein' some great deals out there lately! If only my wife could feel as "magical" as I do about this right now!

Oh well, I WILL become a DVC member....Oh, I WILL!! :)

Hi Arny,
My husband's not a big Disney fan but that didn't stop us from buying DVC! Then again, our 3.5 year old and I out-voted him anyway!

As many as you can afford! We have 231 and could easily use another 100. For once I would like to be in the positive and not in the negative point balance.

We JUST bought into the vacation club with 150 point at BCV during our families first visit to WDW. We went with 150 point for now - it was a cost factor at this point. We may consider buying more points later on. If I could have afforded 400 or so, we would have gone for it.

:smooth:

We purchased our 1st contract at OKW in 1997. It was a 200 point contract. That stood pretty well for us for a lot of years, with some creative point usage. The biggest thing we did was to stay in another resort for the weekend, and then move to the DVC resort on Sunday or Monday night, when the points per night were cheaper. It meant making a move, but in a way I liked that because you could get a "taste" of a resort without it breaking the bank to have to come up with the big payment for accomodations. Two or three nights at a resort is a lot easier than 7 or 10. With DVC, Friday and Saturday nights are your higest point nights. Plus, moving to the DVC for the end of the trip meant you could pack less because you'd have a washer/dryer in your room.

I will tell you that DH and my thoughts were the same as far as unit size. We thought we'd always stay in a studio. After all, it's a regular hotel room, only a little nicer because of the kitchenette? Didn't we like a regular Disney hortel room just fine??? Adding a kitchenette would make it all the better. Thatw orled until we styaed in a 1BR. Then we never wanted to stay in a studio again. The difference between the 1BR and the studio is enormous, and you get spoiled once you've stayed in a 1BR.

Right now, you have a small baby. But think down the road. In a few years maybe you'll have 1 or 2 more kids. Do you want them all stuffed into a hotel room? Or would you rather have the ability to spread out? To be able to put the kids to bed in the living room area and you and DH be in the MBR area and have a little privacy, maybe sitting out on your nice patio/balcony that is off the MBR of a 1BR unit.

My point being, 200 points will work for a while, but eventually you'll add on or buy a 2nd contract. If you can afford to do it now, why not do it?

PS-DH and I bought another 230 point contract in December 2002.
