so I started with 160 and now am up to 220 and about to add 30 more when I can find them. My goal is to get enough for a 2 bed room each year so around 320ish points. Just wondering if I am on the low side or just about average.

I would guess that most own what ever the direct sales minimum was at the time they bought. 160 was a popular number and based on posts here on the DIS, standard view studios are really popular.

We started with 75 BWV points, but it wasn't enough. Just added 150 SSR and 75 VGC--so 300 total. Really 225 wdw and 75 dlr-- I will never mix my vgc with the others.

Started with 200 in '93.
Added on 25 in '97.
Added on 121 in '11 resale.
Total 346 right now.
Want to get to enough points to go 2 - 5 nights per month - @500 points.

We have 480 at AKL, split into 2-240 point contracts. We find it's good for us as we usually take 2 trips per year (one March break/one end of summer). Or save them up for one big trip like we did this past March at Aulani. My dream is to eventually add on at GFV :)

We have enough to do 7-8 nights in a 1 br annually - 150 at BCV and 200 at VGF. We are toying with trying to find resale contract at at Grand Cali - again enough for 8 nights or so in 1 a bedroom every other year (that way we can do a long weekend there each year). We both work full time and like traveling other places too - vegas, hawaii, etc - so we don't want enough points to spend all of our vacation time at disney. Any more points right now would be too much for us to use.

Right now, we have enough points for roughly 3 to 4 weeks a year in a studio. Although I would prefer a 1-bedroom, we place greater value on time over villa type. Moreover, our traveling party has yet to exceed 3 adults, so the studios work fine for us.

We have 350 purchased at OKW as a resale in 2000. Buying on the resale market allowed us to buy 100 additional points over buying from Disney directly. (We used money from a small inheritance). I have never been sorry!

I have 250 pts. All WLV in April UY.

Started with 150 resale( before changes). Added direct 50 pts 2x directly. With closing costs on small contracts didn't really pay to not go direct and I used Disney visa to be able to pay off 6mths at 0 interest.

I am happy with my amount of points and am happy with my purchase. Just utilized David's rental to rent some points to pay for a DCL cruise. Another reason to love the flexibility and options of DVC:-)

We bought 2 160 contracts at BLT in 2009 and added 100 more VGC the next year, since they gave us a great deal and financed half interest free for a year. 100 was not enough.

We started with 300ish, enough for a 2bd during school vacation week then added 200. Having 500 is great since now we can stay anywhere we want. We've stayed at the VGF, which I love! Many years we are able to bank our points then take a family or friends with us. We were able to buy the points with some inheritance money after we paid everything else off. We like being able to share the joy.

400pts.- 2 AKV contracts and 1 BLT for 100pts. all direct. Sometimes I think it's too many sometimes not enough.

395 for us right now. We started with 160 at AKV then added on 60 direct about a year later. Once we had out DD we started wanting to do more 1BD and 2BD with family. We found a loaded SSR resale for 175 points a year any a half ago and bought that. (Bough for $75 per point with banked points included, a tad high at the time, but great compared to today prices).

So of course with all of these points we are going to BLT this may in a grand villa. Which means borrowing points to make the trip happen, lol. I can see us maybe getting 100 or so more as 500 would allow us to do pretty much whatever we wanted within reason.

We have 400 pts at SSR with a June UY. We bought 200 direct from Disney in 2005 and then did a 200 pt contract via resale in 2011.

We have 200 pts with a Feb. use year at VGF that we purchased last July. I'm sure in the next few years we will be looking to purchase another 100 pts.

On the other end of the spectrum we own 100 pts, bought direct from Disney at AKV. It allows us to stay 5-6 nights a year in a 1 bedroom at the "cheaper" resorts once a year. I am a disney nut and would love it if we had more points but I just couldn't see how we'd be able to visit more often than that. DH only has so much vacation time and we take at least one trip a year with extended family and usually one with friends too. We like to travel other places besides Disney, plus the costs just to get there (flying) and food are so much!!

Those of you who go to Disney so often, do you travel to other places as well? What kind of job do you have that is so flexible? DH gets 4 weeks of vacation a year and we still can't fit in (or afford) all the travel we'd like to take in a year.

We are in the process of purchasing 50 VWL points. I'll pay it off quickly (using DV 6 mos 0%) and start looking for another small contract. Our goal is enough points to stay in a 1 bedroom villa every other year.
