How many people are using points during the peak (premier) time?

We are going to WDW April 1-8. I am glad most of our spring break does not fall during the highest points season. We have a 2 bedroom reserved starting April 3 but am trying to decide whether to use points or pay cash for April 1-2. We would only be able to use points for a studio. The 1 and 2 bedroom points are out of the question. Just wondering how many people are using their points during this time?

Two years ago we were at WDW for Christmas. It was a lot of points, but totally worth it! We were at VWL and the rest of the family stayed in the WL. We could only "afford" a studio because it was so many points, but I would definitely do it again!

We were there last Christmas and New Year's. We had a great time regardless of the points. We are planning on a Grand Villa for Christmas of 2006 so that will be a real point eater.

I have used my points twice to stay in a 1 -bedroom @ OKW during peak season, one time I even paid for one week-end night on points.

Would I do it again Sun to Fri: yes, would I do it for the week-end points, no way. I could have gotten almost a full week in a one bedroom the end of August for what that one night cost me.

Nope never ours when we go are used in the first couple weeks of Dec. Only when we rent them out are they used in peak times.

Our Spring Break hits right at Easter in 05. We are scheduled to go March 29 - April 3.
Oh well, thank goodness Easter isn't always the last week in March!!

We are planning 25 nights in Dec05 staying over Christmas and New year. The points for 1 bed in OKW are really high for the Christmas week. Decided to check out on the 27th for 5 nights and stay near Universal to save points. Then back to OKW for 4 nights when it gets cheap!

I've always wanted to be in WDW during Christmas and NYE! We are using our points, for the first time, to stay in SSR from Saturday 12/25 till Saturday 1/1/05. Can't wait! With a February UY we will have our points back soon enough to go for 1 week in May (l aready have ressies at SSR, going to try to switch to another resort at 7 month mark) to see the Flower Show and 1 week in October for the Food & Wine Festival.

We had a smiliar situation as yours. Last April we spent a week in a 2BR - Sunday-Saturday (305 pts.! ). The Friday night was 100 points. At the time I thought - I'm not moving, what a hassle. This coming March/April during peak time we will check in on Sunday & check out on Friday - saving that 100 pts. for another trip.

I have a "tentative" cash ressie booked in the 2BR in case we don't want to move - otherwise we are going over to the WL for the one night.

Those weekend points are just so high!

We're doing February school break in a Grand Villa at OKW. With 11 of us going, it would take three regular rooms somewhere else, so that makes the points much more reasonable.

We use points on weekends, holidays, summer vacation, etc. That's why we bought them.

we were in a two bedroom at OKW last APril - the Sat. we arrived was the last night of the high season, it was 100 points for that night. We were able to make a cash reservation for the room through cro at a discount for around $360. No way was that worth 100 points.

Never. Our summer vacation is normally in Dream (early June)...and our Thanksgiving trips are Choice/Magic.

I don't mind paying for weekends... but premier season rates crazy.

We are spending Easter break, including a Friday and Saturday night in a Grand Villa at OKW. Talk about points disappearing quickly!!!! But thats not a complaint. We're thrilled to be able to share the vacation with my sister and her family.

We've done a 2 bedroom at OKW over Christmas/NYE on three occasions, including weekends. The second time was during the Millennium NYE celebration. I believe that was the one when we arrived on 12/19 and left on 1/4. I remember calculating what it would have been cash, and it was well into 5 figures.

We would never have been able to do it without DVC points. Just as the points are high, so are the hotel rates.

No regrets here using points for holidays. ::yes:: ::yes:: ::yes::

The cash value is incredible for Christmas. That is a very good point. I guess what is staggering to me is the points for the 2 bedroom on weekends (and the grand villa as mentioned in the above post). I think I am leaning towards getting a studio for the weekend and then moving to the 2 bedroom. Thanks to all who have posted.

Using points over easter at OKW 2BR, 100 / night on Fri & Sat.

But, you only live once.

I'm going to try it because DD is in school, and behind, so we're kinda tied to school schedule for now.

It total disaster, won't do it again.

So we'll see,

Goldi
