This is always such a dilemma for me.

I am by no means a "shoe woman", but when it comes for vacation, you would certainly think I am. Typically for Disney, I bring a pair of canvas sneakers, a pair of flip flops, my boat shoes, 2 pairs of casual sandals and 1-2 pairs of dress sandals. That's 7 pairs. I used to bring my running shoes too, but I found I don't really like to wear those to the parks.

For DD, I plan on brining her crocs (for the pool), 2 pairs of "everyday" sandals (in case she loses one), tennies (but we probably won't use them), and her dress shoes.

Whenever I think of how many pairs to bring, I think back to when my family was going on vacation when I was 16. We were headed to a beach vacation for a week, I was playing in a tennis tournament, we planned on going deep-sea fishing, and had a couple of dressy dinners planned. I packed 7 pairs of shoes... my dad FLIPPED. He said "there are 6 people in this family - if we each bring 7 pairs of shoes, that is 42 pairs of shoes.. thats 84 shoes - there is no way I am taking 84 shoes to Flordia!!" He then institued a 4 pair rule! :-) When he said it like that (84 shoes), it made SO MUCH sense - but I couldn't, for the life of me, figure out which pairs not to bring. I think, ultimately, I snuck a few in with my brothers, who had originally only planned on brining 2-3 pairs (plus the ones they were wearing on the plane) each.

So... how many pairs of shoes do you bring???

I bring 2 pairs of tennis shoes (I alternate days) flipflops and I usually wear a pair of sandals down. My DD and DS are the same. My DH is usually less.
I only pack two pairs plus what you are wearing and then 1 pair of flip-flops or a water shoe.

I brought 3 pair for myself; Disney Crocs, Croc Flip-Flops and a pair of Keen Venice H2's. I wore my sneakers on the trip down, so I guess technically I brought 4 pair. I never wound up using the flip-flops, and the Keen's wound up getting the most use because the Disney Crocs started to rub the tops of my feet after a while and became uncomfortable.

I brought 2 pairs of shoes each for my sons; Disney Crocs and regular sandals, and they used both during our trip. They also wore sneakers on the trip down.

My DH brought a pair of sandals and wore sneakers for the trip down.

I'm glad I didn't pack more shoes; as it was, I had to pay an extra $25 for the flight back due to an overweight suitcase full of souvenirs.....:confused3

Generally it is wear one casual park shoe- then one dress shoe for everyone. Now we are 6 in our family. And I have gone slightly nuts this trip on shoes. Started with new flip flops for everyone. Then new sandals. then new sneakers for the kids, then 4 pairs of shoes for me!!!! I call it disney stress relief in shoe therapy. So in addition to the one pair we will all have on our feet. DH will have one more pair, I will have 4(shhhhh) DS 2 pair, dd 3 pair,ds one pair , ds 2 pairs so what is that 13 pairs of shoes...not so bad for a family of 6. We do have a shoe bag- a tote just for the shoes. (since we drive down we can travel heavy now)

I think i pack more shoes than outfits sometimes lol. I have 4 pairs of nike flip flops that i plan on packing because they are nice for during the day and i plan on packing at least 4 pairs of crocs to wear during the day and at night too. I will also pack a pair of tennis shoes even tho i hardly wear them, and prolly nice sandals for skirts or dresses for when we hit DTD or a nice restaurant in the parks. That should be it hopefully!!!

GUBBLEBUM...

I am having that problem as well. I just got a huge 28,19,& duffle pink american tourister luggage set and I plan on taking the 28 for clothes and shoes and checking the small duffle with my bathroom supplies in it since we are doing ME but I'm concerned that on the way home I wont have enough room (im 22 and tend to over pack, imagine that!) and that the small duffle wont be big enough, and also with the new "water/liquids" rule i'm assuming breakable goods like snoglobes will have to be checked and that worries me because the baggage ppl arent careful yet i cant carry it on lol. what to do what to do!!??

We each will have 2 pairs of tennies, 1 Crocs & watershoes & sandals.

If you buy the breakables at a park or DTD you can either opt to have them shipped home OR ask them to wrap them in tissue bubble wrap and box them for you. They will take up more room that way, but should be safe (at least we've never had a problem when they were boxed/tissued/bubbled.)

I LOVE SHOES..I bring about 10 pairs and that is nothing compared to my shoe collection in my closet..hahaha

I wear a pair and I take another. Usually a pair of brown sandals and a pair of black sandals. That takes care of all outfits. Sometimes I get crazy and take a pair of sneakers, but they never seem to see the light of day. My DH has a pair of sneakers and a pair of boat shoes. The kids each wear sneakers down and have a pir of flip-flops and a pair of the velcro-around-the-ankle Land's End sandals.

3 maybe 4. Tennis shoes, NIKE sandals, flip flops for the pool and maybe a pair of dressier sandals if we're going somewhere where'd I need to dress up a bit.

really?? I always carried on the things i bought except for poster and things that I could put in my suitcase that wouldnt break but i was afraid if i put the breakable in my check suitcase that they would open it and go through a box lol. maybe they dont do that? i always seem to be the lucky one whos luggage they search lol. thanks for the info tho, i'll prolly end up just packing the breakable in my luggage, i always buy a snoglobe each year i go to wdw!!

I also wear a pair and pack a pair so 2 in total. For our cruise this fall I am bringing a third pair of dressy sandals for the dinners but I did try and come up with a way of bringing sandals nice enough for dinners but comfortable enough to wear in the parks but I couldn't do it. Its killing me I have to bring a third pair but I have no choice!

I plan on wearing flip flops, packing sneakers, another pair of flip flops and I still need to buy a nice dressy sandal to bring. Kids all have 1 pair on their feet, and a pair of sneakers packed.

OK hers my shoe count: flip flops 3
water shoes DH and DS 2
sneakers we go down wearing them
sandals 3 plus an extra pair for me with a wee heel would like to bring about 5 but???
slippers 3
ok thats all my family will permit me to bring

I wear my sneakers down and more often than not, I wear them for the entire trip. I do bring a pair of dressy sandals or shoes for the nights we may dress up for dinner and then I bring water shoes or flip flops. That's it. I used to bring tons, but time and time again, I learned I didn't need a whole just in case wardrobe.:flower3:

For those of you that fly, the airlines are getting stricter with the weight limits per bags. The family that checked in ahead of us at NWA, had to pay the "weight penalty" on their 2 large bags(don't worry you can use any major credit card).

Check you airlines weight and checked bag allowances(some are only allowing 1 per person and that might cost you $5-10). The extra shoes might have to stay at home.

we bring sneakers, flip flops, & sandles. reguardless of time of year. thats it
