I need your help! We leave Saturday, and I am trying to get everything packed. I am just not sure how many outfits to pack. I know I will do laundry at some point, but I also know that our clothes will get sweaty from the heat, and wet from rain, so we will probably go through two outfits a day. My DH, DD 5, DS 2, and I are staying at the ASMo.

What do you think? Thanks!

The way I do it is, pack 2 outfits per person per day for half the trip and do wash halfway through or when needed. I love to have less and wash more if I need it. I find it hard to keep track of everything and spend so much time packing up to go. I have many friends that have gone and I always hear how everyone felt like they overpacked. I have never heard anyone say they didn't bring enough.

we packed 2 each days and put each outfit in a ziplock bag too keep them inorder ..... it also keep everything neet .... we only had too do wash becouse i forgot one of my bags lol oh well

2 outfits a day for the adults...we'll be packing multiple outfits...or at least underwear and shorts for DD who is potty training :)

We usually go for 10 days, so we pack 5 outfits for the adults and 10 outfits for the child. 1 outfit per day per adult (we go in Nov/Dec when it is not hot nor too cold and rarely rains) and 2 outfits per day per child. I do laundry at the 5th day mark before bed. Each outfit is placed in a ziplock bag. It includes top, bottom, socks and undies. We bring 2 pairs of shoes per person. Since we do go in winter, I also bring 1 pair of long pants per person and 1 long-sleeve shirt per person and 1 sweatshirt/jacket per person. We can usually put all we need in 2 large suitcases and 1 carryon.

PrincessPiglet, can you give me an idea of what type of clothes you pack for your Nov/Dec. trip? We are going the 2nd week in December and I have no idea what to take.... shorts, tshirts, bathing suits? I was told to expect hot and cold and to bring anywhere from shorts to a winter coat and gloves. Also, I've been told the pools are heated and ok to be in, but will chilly when we get out - is it worth it? How many days could I plan to wear shorts or is it shorts in the late morning and long pants and sweatshirt in the evening? Thanks!

No problem. Just know that every year the temps can be different. However, I only ever take 1 pair of long pants (usually jeans for me and DH and sweat pants for DD) and 1 long sleeve shirt. It's not very often we wear the pants. We are northeners, so 60 degrees is still warm enough for shorts! There has only been one year, I believe it was either 2004 or 2003 where we actually had to go out and buy sweatshirts. I have never had to wear a heavy coat and have never brought one either. We usually start off with shorts and short sleeve shirt for morning and afternoon. We bring a sweatshirt/light jacket with us to the parks and sometimes will use it. I have never used gloves and I dont bring them. During MVMCP in 2003, we were so warm we could not even drink the hot chocolate and we had t-shirts and shorts on, but the day before was a little chilly and we ended up wearing shorts and a light jacket. In all our trips, I have never seen the temp go below 65 in the day or 55 at night. We bring 1 swimsuit each, but have yet to actually go swimming! We have a pool at our house, so it's not such a big deal. My DH did use the hottub last trip and was fine getting out, but he is quite hardy! Honestly, I would not overpack and bring a heavy coat or gloves. You can always check the weather a few days before you go to get a good 10 day idea. That is what we do. I don't start packing until a day or so before we leave, that way you can get the best estimate of the weather and pack accordingly. Hope this helps!

Lisa,

Thanks for the info! And thanks for giving me an excuse to procrasinate (sp?) when it's time to start packing. :rolleyes1 I'm always last minute and I always overpack "just in case". And travelling with 2 little ones, I always worry I don't have a enough, or the right clothes and come back with 1/2 the clothes not even worn. I've never washed clothes on my vacations, but considering doing that this year to save on the amount to pack. Also, I'm travelling with inlaws and bro & sis inlaws and have been limited to the amount I can take!

Your tips did help as we are happier wearing sweatshirts instead of big coats. However, looking at some of the photos, especially the Holiday photos Disney posts, most of the people are bundled up. I guess it depends on which week and when the photos were taken. I don't want to deal with a heavy coat and oops, where did we lose that glove at? :furious:

I plan on bringing 2 outfits per day for everyone, plus an extra 1 or 2 outfits for the kids "just in case". I don't plan on doing any laundry as we are only staying 4 nights. My oldest dd is planning on bringing 3 outfits per day for her baby (6 months).

For December planners: we've been there twice in December. One year, it was HOT and we had to actually go out and buy more shorts and tshirts because it was "supposed" to be cooler, but actually got to be in the upper 80's. Last year, it was COLD and rainy. We had to wear our shorts during the day because all of our jeans were wet from the all-day raining going on. It was chilly during the day, but it felt good in the sun (it was in the lower 70's). In the evenings, we had on layers with sweat shirts and long-sleeved shirts, sweat pants or jeans. For MVMCP, we had on layers of sweat shirts and long-sleeved shirts, PLUS our winter coats and mittens (and the kids were still cold).

You just don't know what kind of weather December will bring, so plan on bringing EVERYTHING (lol). In retrospect, the cold is easy to deal with, it's when it's been raining ALL DAY LONG and it's cold that's makes it uncomfortable.

We're leaving in a couple of weeks, so I know it will be hot. That makes for easy packing! :)

Everyone packs differently, but my rule of thumb on a trip long enough for a laundry day is to bring enough outifts to cover us until I plan on doing laundry and then adding another outfit just in case. The laundry at the hotels we stay at are convenient, so if for some reason, DD went through outfits more quickly than I had planned for, I could always do laundry a day early. With laundries by the pool, we can pop it in, swim, and be done. It's too easy to stress over. :)

I pack about 2 outfits per day for my 3 year old, and 1 outfit a day for the rest of us. I don't do laundry on vacation! I do pack plenty of extra underwear and socks. I usually also pack 1 or 2 extra adult outfits, just in case!

Thanks again for the tips! I'm hoping the FL sunshine will come through for us! It's been rainy and cold here the past couple of days with the tropical storm and asked my DH, would you go to Disney in this? Surprisingly, he said yes. But no hurricanes in December. However, this year seems to be following last year so I guess I'll have to be prepared. I will definitely be out and about no matter what the weather - travelling with extended family that will drive me crazy if we're stuck indoors! So shorts and winter clothes, here will come! :sunny:

I just put the finishing touches on our packet, since we leave for our trip tomorrow. I think the answer on the number of outfits for us is probably too many :-) I do not do laundry at Disney...just am not going to do it. When we do our annual beach vacation where we rent a house, I accept that part of that trip involves normal chores (laundry, some cooking, making my own bed, etc), but one of the things we love about Disney is that we really are taking a break from those normal chores. I just love that once a day someone else comes in and wipes down my sink :-) LOL

I just had to add that with that last post I finally earned my ears and I am now a Mousketeer :-) Seems like an appropriate thing since my trip is now only 8 hours away :-)
