They just announced that the USA has halted the troops to pause advance for 4-6 days.

I think we may be doing this to let Saddam hear this and then get his soldiers to come out of Bagdad away from civilians. The more we can get to come out to us the better. I just dont buy the fact we need to wait for more troops to come in. What about you.

I had the Travel Channel on and not the news. So, I have NOT heard this. I am not sure it is a good idea for them to stay in one place that long inside Iraq.

I am up with a sick child (don't ya love it when they are sick in the middle of the night?) and just turned the news on and heard this. It's odd to think they would report this unless they wanted Saddam et al to KNOW.... which does sound like they may be laying a trap..... but will he fall for it? Reminds me of The Princess Bride..."You would think I would drink from the glass in front of ME- so I must choose the glass in front of you..... but then YOU would know I would think that, so I clearly cannot choose the wine in front of you....."

Let them come out and "air" blows them up. Draw them out, much better than urban warfare, with disguises, and children as shields. And hidden chemical weapons.
Sad man kills his own people and what do you hear, nothing.
Two marines are killed and what do you hear, enormous causualties!!! Some of the "heavy firefights" are 300-500 Iraqi dead, 1 wounded American. This is fact. None of our own media care to report the facts, except fox news. Then they get blasted as bias!
Heres how two different media would report the same thing.

ABC. There is an incredible fire fight at XXX, coalition forces are meeting heavy resistance, by pig farmers that ask to be left alone.

FOX. There were some minor skirmishes at XXX, a few hundred Iraqis appear to have been killed and one American was wounded. With a long supply line not heavily guarded, can we expect more of these attacks? And what can we do about it?

Seems fox bias is really true reporting, just the facts.

I had heard this during the night too. I heard not only are they waiting for more troops, but also for supplies as they are down to one ration a day. I don't know what there reasoning is for announcing this...might be like what you think to lay a trap.

During the Centcom briefing early this morning, the General (forgot his name) denied this. He also denied that there is a shortage of food for our troops.

I just refuse to follow the 24 hour news channels anymore. It only upsets me and none of them are dependably accurate. The story changes from one second to another. Too emotionally damaging for me.

If there is a pause, it is part of the plan. More troops being sent was part of the original plan also, the media tries to make us think these arriving troops just got the call out of the blue. Some of the troops were held up because of the Turkey situation. I think the media has forgotten the Gulf War was from the middle of January until the end of February. It was simply a different plan; lots of air, then ground.
