small resale contract of 50 points or so then either bought a new contract from Disney or bought more resale points.

Thanks Dave

i started with Disney. We needed the financing. So we started with 210 BCV and then added on 140 VWL.

The friends and family is to Feb1st,so that is a good deal.If you are thinking of buying through Disney. It saves ove 10.00 a point. If you have any questions let me know.

I bought a small OKW contract last Spring and we will probably add on at either OKW or BWV directly through Disney this time. Although the resale process went smoothly, it still took a long time. Now that I have the option to buy add-ons from Disney, that is the route we'll take. We only pay cash, so this would work great!

Followed the sage advice I've read here many times: Buy Where You Want to Stay. We did not let the dues/resort influence our decision. Seems like they're starting to even out a bit this year.

Only way for newbies to get the non-SSR properties is resale. We narrowed our top picks to 2 resorts, took the first resale VWL that had enough points/year for 5 nights in studio, didn't want to finance.

Added on @ BWV, waiting for next best thing.

ok if you buy in with 150 this year then next year you get another 150 when they come up, can you use those points to rent multi studios for your family or do you have to use them for just one ressie at a time per stay?

Hi, you can use them for multiple reservations.

I forgot to say,That if you buy in this year and you dont plan to travel until you get next years points then you need to bank your points.Or if want to travel this year and need next years points you can borrow from your next years points.

We started with 50 at VWL and then added-on 30 at BWV through Disney. That might have been enough but we came accross a great 200 BWV resale that we could not pass up. Anyway, starting with a small resale to get in the club is a very reasonable strategy.

Me!

First contract 50 OKW points.
Second contract 30 BCV points.
Then bought 150 SSR points and sold the others.

We started with a 100 point OKW resale, and then added on a 150 point SSR through Disney - both worked out great!

we started with a 150 resale then added 100 with disney. all at BWV :cool1:

We started with a resale contract of 100 points, Feb UY at SSR and added 120 points with the 15% discount in Dec.

We started with a tiny little 25 point BWV contract, but....before we even closed on that, we purchased another 150 at SSR & another 75 at BWV (Both through Disney).

We bought resale and direct at same time. Our original 300 point OKW contract was with Pat at the Timeshare Store and Byron handled our 170 BCV purchase from Disney. Added 45 on to BCV during our first stay a few months later when we used our incentive package and met Byron.

My wife and I started with a 210 resale contract... Ever since I have been razing about it to a co-worker of mine whose family is as much into Disney as us... They just bid on their first contract, a VWL 50 pointer. They are super excited to just be in the club (*fingers crossed it passes ROFR*). He says they hope to pickup small 50 or so point contracts ever other year or so...

Just a little story... :)

Jeez, guess I'm not alone. Bought a 50pt resale @ SSR and added on 120pts (in 2 60pt contracts via Disney) less than a month later.

We bought 175 at VWL then added at 50 SSR and just added 155 at SSR :earsboy:

I'd like to hear how that comes out. I just got ROFR'd on my 50 pt SSR contract bid. The resale company said that pretty much all contracts below 100 pts were getting bought back by Disney recently, regardless of price. They were really surprised mine didn't go through, but they also mentioned a small VWL priced at $92 or $95 just got ROFR'd too.

I was hoping for a small contract to get in now and then buy another small add-on from Disney whenever the next DVC began selling. Unless the next resort was in Hawaii, then I would have looked for a WDW resale.

Why do so many people keep saying this? It's not true.

Actually, I know why so many people say it: Because that's what most guides say. But it's not true. If you were a potential new member and insisted on a resort other than SSR, I'm confident you could fairly readily get a contract anywhere except BCV. (As a new member, you'd still need to buy at least 150 points, though.) BCV would likely require a wait.
