and on a regular basis, not just 4th of July etc.? All this debate about the national anthem, boycotts etc. got me thinking back to just after 9-11 when I was at Walmart and people were complaing because they wanted to buy a US flag and Walmart didn't have any left. I told a few of them they should have already owned a flag. My father flew one every day growing up and I have continued to fly one daily at my own house.

Every day. Unless the weather is bad and then I take it in the house. :sunny:

We flew one before 9/11 most of the time. We did put out some decorative flags on some holidays or when it was spring but snowing to remind us that the flowers would come out eventually, but most of the time we flew it. Since 9/11 we've continued to fly it almost everyday. For the patriotic holidays we add little flags around the yard (in flower pots, etc).

Everyday. And when it starts to look worn, we get a new one. We have always had one. We do have a separate pole for decorative/holiday flags.

It may not be the true US flag that is flown at my house everyday but most of them are a version of it. Today I have up a Mickey Flag and his body is colored to look like the flag. I have alot of Americana type flags that I use.

Live in an apartment and don't have one. I don't think my parents have ever flown one -- we've never had a flag pole.

I live in apartment and cannot fly a flag. However, I have two displayed on my bookcase. I love our flag!

We used to always fly the flag on the national holidays, always. During the Iranian hostage crisis back in '79-'81, we flew the flag from after about a month till they came home. Again, our flag has flown continuously (it is illuminated for nighttime) since early that morning on September 11, 2001. We had to replace it once back in 1980 and again back in 2004.

I always like this photo of it from back in early '03.

We have one up always :thumbsup2

I have no problem with anyone flying a flag, but I definitly don't believe that flying a flag means you love America any more than anyone else. I certainly can't imagine telling someone who wanted to buy one that they "should have already owned one". That's pretty sanctimonious!

I think a lot of people congratulate themselves on sporting symbols (flags, those little flag lapel pins, weekly church attendance, showy charity contributions, etc.), but they really don't have anything to do with the content of anyone's character.

We fly the flag on every patriotic holiday-Memorial Day, Veterans' Day, Pearl Harbor Day, Armistice Day, etc. I think many people have forgotten the significance of some of these holidays and I think the flag is a reminider to everyone-especially myself.

Thank you!

I don't own a flag.

Although if I moved to another city, say New York, I'd buy a Chicago flag and fly it from my window there! :teeth:

We live in a condo where they are not allowed but I haveone on my car and DH has one plus a marines decal on his vehicle. We do have one always flying at the lake cottage we share with our family.

My family has one outside our house everyday. (well, actually right now its not up only because the hook thingy to hold it up broke... but my dad's gonna fix it this weekend.)

We've had one outside our house ever since 9/11. My dad, me, and my sister went to Home Depot for some reason on 9/11 itself, and they were giving out free flags. So of course we took it, and that flag flew outside our house for I think at least 2 years. It finally got so faded that we replaced it. but we still have that flag down in our basement.
