I was watching "The Animatrix" this afternoon and I was wondering about how many movies are out there where the machines or computers take over and then kill or enslave mankind? I could think of a few:

"The Matrix" movies
"The Terminator" movies
"2001: A Space Odyssey"
"Wargames" (?)

Any others?

BTW, why are so many movies have the machines taking over as a plot? Are we afraid that our PCs and Palm Pilots will rule us one day? How do we treat machines if they think like humans? Makes me go hmmm... :)

Don't they rule us now? You can't get away from connectivity....I have a pc and cell provided by work which gives them access to me 24/7. I don't even want a palm. Computers have made so many things easier and more fun (like now) but they also give anyone access to more information about us than ever before.

Here's another computer movie....TRON. Can you think of anything worse than being sucked into your pc??? Disney knew we'd be overun years ago (LOL)!

Hey, I have Wargames here... its one of Jeffs favorite movies...

The WOPR, adn the acoustical modem, makes us laugh now!

Virtuosity, Ghost in the Machine, and in another direction Weird Science

Sneakers has a lot of computer parts to it... but its more of a humorous conspiracy theory movie..

Wasn't there a James Bond movie when a evil person used a computer to foil the world?

(Was it that horrible one with the space shuttle in it? Moonraker! )

In my old neighborhood, people were enslaved by those devices.. and it was just that...

I just about died one day in church..the minister said "Tap to the Book of Acts in your Palm"

I just watched one on TV last night, but I have no idea what the name of it was! :teeth:

A horrible movie made in 1984 starring Virginia Madsen. One of the first computer-takes-over movies.

Another horribly bad movie. Sickly sweet sentimentality...seemingly so typical of Steven Spielberg.

Lawn Mower man - There's another bad computer taking over movie.

Classic Movies: Westworld and Stepford Wives

Gotta Love it! :)
