I keep hearing how bored other people's kids are. My kids are out playing with the neighbors everyday. The other night all the kids were playing red rover. It brought back memories of playing ghost in the graveyard when I was growing up.
We have 24 houses on between both sides of the street. Since none of the kids go to the neighborhood school. They play together since they don't know any other kids.

1- 1yr. gir1
2- 5 yr boys
1- 2nd grade boy
2- 4th grade girls
4-5th graders ( 2boys/2 girls)
1- 6th grade girl
2-7th grade boys
2-8th grade boy

Total-15 kids

I live in a cul-de sac. Most are teens now with the exception of a few new people that have small kids. In the neighborhood though - we have plenty of kids.

My street consists of mainly kids my age. We all went through high school, and we're all juniors in college. So when I was younger, we all played together.

Now, there's only a small handful of kids, but I never see them out playing.

On our street, there are only two other kids close to DD's age and I am not real fond of the family  There are a few older kids on the street behind us but really, for a "family" neighborhood there aren't that many kids. I think in the next ten years there will be an increase as the original owners of the houses move on and younger families move in.

I don't know everyone on the street but on our end (about 15 houses) there are 7 houses with small kids so my kids (8 and 5) always have kids to play with. There are, including mine:

1- 1 year old girl
2- 3 year old girls
5- 5 year olds (4 boys/1 girl)
1- 6 year old girl
1- 7 year old girl
4- 8 year olds (2 girls/2 boys)

A lot :lmao:. Most of the families in our neighborhood have younger kids-elementary age and we have high schoolers. The kids just have friends drive over now to play Ghosts in the Graveyard :lmao:. When the kids were in elementary school we had a ton of kids in the neighborhood and they were ALWAYS outside playing various games. My kids were never board in the summer but come about August 1st they were ready to go back to school.

I live on a little dead end street. there are 5 My son plays with the 2 boys and their sister plays with the girl across the street.

I don't know all of their ages or have an exact count but I would estimate there are about 30 kids between newborn and 18 on my street.

There are three boys who are 11, one little girl who just turned two. A little baby, not sure of gender. And then way down on the other end a little girl who is 7. She was in my son's class last year.

The 11 year old boys used to play with my 7 year old a little, but it wasn't working out. Luckily my son has a friend one street over who is his age, but he's been away for the summer.

About ten, including one male classmate of DS'. However, he doesn't get along with him. The older ones are HS girls, and most of the others are young children.

DD has just turned 3 and is really too young to run with the gang at this point, but if past history is a prediction, most of these kids will be gone by the time they reach Kindergarten age. We live in a rough school district, so the only families who stay past that point are the ones who are willing to pay for private school.

Mostly we have a continual rotation of birth to age 4, then they move and the cycle starts again. It would be great for babysitting opportunities for DD were we to still be living here when she reaches HS age.

wow how many houses do you guys all have on your street??? we have 3 on my side of the street and 4 on the other....2 are empty, the rest are adults

Several thousand, it sounds like, when they're all playing together in the afternoon while I'm trying to nap! :lmao:

We chose our neighborhood in part because of the large numbers of kids - our street is almost entirely young families with kids under the age of 10. And it's growing daily, it seems; we see at least one house a week with a "new arrival!" sign or balloons out in the yard. Adding to this, is the fact that my street and the street behind us are organized so that the garages back onto a common lane-way. The lane is very quiet traffic-wise, so all the kids on both streets come out of their garages and congregate to play in the lane. There's always kids out there riding around on bikes or playing basketball. :goodvibes

The funniest part is that we're a very multi-ethnic neighborhood (which is fine with us - we're in the same demographic - young computer industry immigrants (we're Canadian) who have only been in Seattle for a few years), so a few of the families are just learning English. It's so funny to hear 3 or 4 different languages being spoken at once as the kids all play together - they all seem to get along, anyway!

Age 3 - 2 kids (Girl and boy)
Age 4 - 4 (Twin Boys 2 girls)
Age 6 - 2 (Girl and Boy)
Age 7 - 1 Girl

We call the whole group the "Locust Swarm" because they decend on your house, relieve it of food stuffs, then move on to the next domicile.

Cul de sac-DD12, DD's friend-12, Friend has 1 year old brother, another friend is 9 and she has a brother about 1 year of age. A new neighbor boy who is 13.

There are four girls on my street. 2 nine year olds, 1 seven year old, and 1 four year old. Despite the age differences, all four girls play together frequently.

There are only four homes on our dead end street.

my 4 plus 1 in DS9's class but she's with her dad every weekend.

We live on a busy road and the 2 true "neighborhoods" are on the other side of town, about a 4 mile drive.
We have a small neighborhood up the hill (2 miles) which is where DS14's best friend lives but the road to get up the the neighborhood is not safe, to many speeders. I'd say on average they do about 55 - 60 going down the hill and at least one wipe out a week when they hit the main road (my road)

I drive my kids to friends houses to play or we all meet at the park near the school.

There are 40 kids on my block, most of them under the age of 9, with a huge number three and under. I seldom see any of them out playing and it's unbelievably quiet considering the number of kids.

My two are 12 and 14, so they are out of luck for kids to hang out with.
