how many hours per week was your first ever job?

My first job was babysitting in high school and it was sporadic. The first time I earned a paycheck was my first year of college and it was about 15 hours per week at $3.35 per hour. Big money!

At 16 years old, 18 hours a week. It was 2 hrs after school and an 8 hr day on SAT. Sometime after HS, I went FT. I was there 4 years and loved it.

I don't remember specific hours. The people across the street built and owned apartments and paid their son and I to put the handles on all the bathroom and kitchen cabinets. They said there was no way they were paying Union scale to a cabinet maker to put them on.....and as I recall they said Union scale was like $10 an hour! I think minimum wage at the time was $1.60 so that probably is what they paid us.

Not counting earlier sporadic or short-term jobs like lawn cutting, leaf raking, snow shoveling or painting, my first steady job started when I was 13. It was not etched in stone, but typically was 2 hours a day after school and 8 hours on Saturday. In the summers it went to basically a full time job, even six days a week many times.

first job i got an actual paycheck for was during high school-i think it was about 26 hours per week (after school and some saturday hours) at $2.65 per hour.

12 hours (6pm-6am) a night for 6 nights a week (Sunday off) . I was 17 driving a pea combine for month in the summer.

20 hours. I was a senior in high school and in the Cooperative Office Education program which allowed us to only take the classes we needed to graduate and then go to work. They only picked 25 kids. I only had to take 1 class and I was done by 10am. I worked 12-5, 4 days a week at an Insurance office. They were closed on Wednesdays.

17-20? My first real job was in a donut store. A couple of after school shifts for 3 or 4 hours, weekends 2 - 7 hour shifts. Going in at 6 AM to open up on weekends was fun, but I got to take leftovers home!

I believe it was 10 to 15 hours a week after school and weekends… assistant in the Social Science Reading Room of the Boston Public Library in Copley Square. This was in the 60’s before the huge renovation and expansion. Made $1.15 an hour.
