Exercise 15 hours per week? WHAT? Are you insane?

I can't think of anything that feels GOOD I would want to do for 15 hours each week. I like the 12 ounce curl. I do that a lot. And I guess my body by Budweiser shows it.

Ok seriously does beating your car out of a capsule of ice count? Or breaking up the ice layer on the sidewalk so that you can get to the snow underneath to shovel it? (after all I have been at it for 2 hours....now it is time to get out the bobcat and really take care of the parking lot!)

Hey! That should count! Been there, done that. Miserable work.

Can I ask - for you 2 hours a day people-
Are we talking 2 hours of activity?

I'm only counting time on the torture devices - not down time.

I just want to know because - I thought I was doing good -
now I feel like a schlump and I need to ramp up.

I know this is going to sound odd - but I am NOT chatty at the gym! Really!

We're all super friendly and we exchange greetings and such, but the core group of us who are gym rats are serious about exercise - running over each other to sign up for hard to get into spin classes, for example - so when I record my gym time it's all motion, all the time.

For today, as an example, our spinning class was cancelled due to weather so I did 75 minutes of lower body weight training, followed by 45 minutes on a cardio machine (an ellliptical thingy). During this time I must have talked with four folk, but always in passing, in between sets, or briefly while working side by side.

Also, the most up to date research says that to get the best possible effect you want 90 minutes/day of vigorous activity.

The folk who compiled the reserach for this recommendation were so dismayed with this conclusion - fearing it would keep people from doing anything - that they came up with this strategy to frame the results: 30 mintues/day for fitness, 60 minutes/day to help you keep off weight you may have lost, 90 minutes/day to help weight loss.

Notice that this is PER DAY, far more than the old 3 days/week recommendation.

Oh you just killed me!! I seriously thought the more beer bottles I lifted the more I would lose!! Oh well.....

I gotta say however, I will not be letting my girl read this tread!! She is already on me enough about my lack of motion.

Oh the horror to find out she is actually correct!!!
