Since there are so many very-high IQed people here on the Dis, I wonder how many TRULY gifted Disers there are. Were you one of those very gifted children we've seen on the news that went to college before you were 12 years old?

I'm interested in this, too! What with so many people have 160+ IQs, ;)

Kids that go to college before 12 are not "gifted" they are prodigies. That is an entirely different level and a 160 IQ certainly isn't anywhere near prodigy level.

I had to wait until 17. However, I did date a guy who graduated from college at age 15! (he was one of those prodigies!)

One of the girls I went to school with graduated college in pre-med when she was 17. She was the sweetest thing in the world and she won a few pageants(that's how she paid for college!) I lost touch with her after I graduated (at the ripe old age of 24) but I understand she did become a doctor by the age of 22.

My grandmother started college when she was 15. I'm afraid that's as close as I get.

I went to college (community) a year early. It was part of a program my school offered where your college credits also counted as your senior year credits. Kinda' like doing your freshman year of college and your senior year at the same time. It had absolutly nothing to do with how intellegent you were though. You just had to have a certain GPA and go through a sort of interview process. Nobody ever asked anything about IQ. There was a 14 year old girl in the group of us accepted, and her brother (at 17) was already at the State college and had finished two years at the community college. I only talked to the girl a few times, but I remember that she was home schooled.

Not me, but I know someone who I bet will go super early. He was in my class where I teach preschool. At age 2 he was reading chapter books and working fractions. Truly amazing. His grandfather and father are both MENSA members.

I was in love with Bobby Sherman at 12.

Nah- not 12 for me.

I was spanked.
And I'm a winter baby.

I just never had a shot.

Well dang.
Now I'm dumb, fat and completely deprived b/c I was only allowed one resort mug in my childhood.

I guess adding in that I'm blonde too doesn't make this any better??

I'm completely doomed to failure.

"Technically, geniuses are people who score over a 140 IQ level on one of a number of standardized tests. is one simple fact: consistently, about 2% of the population score at this level on these tests".

If someone has an IQ of 160, in the genius range, I would think that these genius children would be in college at a very early age (say 12).

Prodigies, from my understanding are those profoundly gifted in one or more specific area(s), like music, art, mental calculations, etc.

We have one GENIUS here on the Dis! Any more? I have lots of questions for them! Very cool!

MENSA membership asks for an IQ of 130 and above, the top 3 % of the population. From what I've been reading here on the Dis, most or many Disers would qualify for MENSA membership. I wonder what that means? Being a Disney fanatic is a sign of high IQ, I think!::MickeyMo

Any Doogie Howsers on the Dis?

I'd really LOVE to hear from the one who said he/she went to college at age 12. What did you major in? What do you do now for a living. I'm fascinated by this.
