How many ECV on a bus?

I was wondering how many ECV"S can fit on a bus at one time? My DH's family - mom, dad, brother, sister-in-law will all have one. (and no they don't all need one, but they are absolute idiots- no love lost between me and them) and will be taking Disney transportation. I'm just wondering if they will have to wait for a lot of buses - which will make me :lmao: and :rotfl2:

We won't be with them as we will have our car and will pretend me don't know them....;)

Please don't take this as I'm embarrassed of them becuz they have ECVS - its because they are just lazy and really don't need them, it infuriates me that they try to buck the system at every turn...

Two maximum on each bus - but there is a special van for large party pickups, isn't there?

::yes::
2 maximum per bus and you can call transportation for more options for large parties with ECVs. There will be a button on the phone labeled "Transportation". They should call and say that they have 4 ECVs in their party.

There will also likely be other guests in ECV's or W/c's at the bus stop, so yes, they will have to wait for more than one bus. Even the transport vans may not be able to accommodate all 4 ECV's at once since there isn't that much space or tie-downs. The one time I used a transport van due to multiple bus issues, that was the case and I was told they were used for emergencies or specific issues, but not for general transportation to/from the parks on a regular basis. Perhaps others will have had a different experience.---Kathy

Be prepared to:lmao: :rotfl: :lmao: :rotfl: because they won't be riding together on the bus!

Just don't make plans that rely on them being "there" (i.e. restaurant) at a specific time. :rotfl2: Or make the "first one" and when they roll in late tell them you really can't afford to wait on them at each meal so you will be doing your own thing and will meet up with them when they are back together as a group.

Rent a SMALL car. Odds are your DH will buckle and you will end up transporting at least one of them.

Are they renting from offsite? Maybe it would be more "effective" for them to rent in the parks and then be ambulatory for the buses--lots of people do that.

you will be laughing often, because they will be waiting for a lot of buses.

You may also be pleased to know that they will be waiting in every line and will sometimes be waiting longer because of the ECVs.

In shows, they will never be able to sit together - usuallly a maximum of two can sit next to each other.

On some rides they may not be able to ride together at all. Some rides have a maximum number of special needs people allowed on at a time for safety/evacuation reasons. I think, based on my observation, that the number is 2 in a ride car. No matter what their needs are, CMs will see teh ECVs, and will treat them as special needs guests.

I will not get into what they will do to others in wcs/ECVs by having a party that large with some unneeded ECVs. If they do in fact have needs and I am unaware of them, I apologize right now!

I just wanted to point out that not only the buses will be a problem for them, but also rides and shows... Life is NOT any easier on an ECV!

They have the right to use an ECV, powerchair or wheelchair in the parks even if they are a marthon runner in top health and having no disabilities. It would infuriate some people if every person in an ECV, powerchair or wheelchair was asked if they really needed the device. What if every person with a stroller was asked if their kid really needed the stroller. They got their rights and will quickly learn that their convenience will have its limits.

Tell them that because you are driving that you will have to meet up in the park when they get there. Do not tell them any Disney secrets like early hours. Go early to gas up the car and yes get the tiniest car possible to save money. "Family, I am sorry but we wanted to have fine dining so we saved money by getting a really cheap little car, sorry.:confused3 " Go to the park early and get fast passes and do as much as you can then meet them when they arrive. They will probably leave at 8:30 for 9 am opening so that will give you at least an hour before they are anywhere near to meeting you, lol. It will take them two busses minimum so it will be a long wait for them. Dont suggest in park rental so as to slow them down.

Phone tag is a fun game, lol. Did you say you are at Town Square oh my we are at Liberty Square. I can get away with low sugars, can you? I have to eat regularly or they can go low. Enjoy yourself on the trip and have fun playing dodge the family, lol.

Laurie - Your mind is almost as evil as mine!:hippie: :happytv:

In any shows you can also avoid htem easily - ECV seating is (almost) always in the back row. Just say you've been having problems with your vision recently, and have to sit closer to the front... They will be split up in the back, and you can sit with people you actually LIKE in the front of the shows!

I must say you all have as devious mind as I do!! We are only renting a compact car - and we will only be stuck with them for the last 3 days of their vacation - then my dear DH, DD3 and I will have 7 full days to enjoy WDW the way we know how --

We also are not staying at the same resort!!!!

I am sharing no secrets with them - they are bunch fools - I cannot wait to see their faces when they have to wait for those buses :rotfl: :rotfl: :lmao: :lmao: :rotfl: :lmao: :lmao: :rotfl: ;)

I wish I had not shut down that evening and gone to meet you. Angels are not supposed to be seen, I have heard said. I think I am eviler though, I am a Scorpio and a baptist, lol.

Can you teach your daughter to cry on command? Just a thought, lol. I love the theater trick of saying you need to set closer. I wonder if they can even get 4 ECV into some shows. Too bad you dont get a call on your cell phone requiring you to talk to your boss in private. I would fake a celiac spell, lol. Redd Foxx used to have them fake heart attacks on Sanford and Son.

Dont forget to get the metal toed work boots and shin guards in case they run you down. Trip insurance also and you do know first aid, right. I am a good ECV driver but have been run down so be ye warned.

:woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

if they insist on bringing the ECVs into Tiki Room they will fill up the entire show.

it will not be uncommon for them to have to wait for another show, especially in smaller theatres in MK, because a lot of shows so NOT fit that many ECVs. They may fit more wheelchairs, which can fit in smaller spaces..

They are about to discover, especially in tight crowds, that travelling with multiple ECVs is miserable. they will spend more time waiting for things and trying to find curb cuts... they will find out sidewalks are not wide enough to travel down side by side - they will be looking at each other's rear ends the whole time... they will discover they cannot maneuver individually in stores like Tink's Treasures, much less be able to sit side by side in most stores.

they will find that they cannot see street performers... instead they see the keisters of everyone in front of them

i cannot think of a single restaurant that can handle 4 ECVs at one table.

they may think this is easier, but in fact it will be MUCH harder, and i think they will find they are leaving the ECVs behind more often than not!

their hands adn arms will be sore from having to drive. their rears will be tired and sore from sitting on them.

so, if you wan them to learn the consequences of their behaviors... DONT tell them things like ECV seats are vinyl - their rear ends will roast if they do not put a towel over it. if they wear shorts and sandals, dont bother reminding them about sunscreen on thighs and tops of feet. all of these things are common sense if you think about it. however, if they are in fact using the ECVs in an effort to set the world record for laziness, i see no reason to help them exercise their common sense!

do they think they are going to get through lines faster because of them?

Those are especially devious. Many people don't think about sunscreen on their legs and feet, so you can certainly not get blamed for not warning them.;)

its in every guidebook for travelling with ECVs and we mention it here all the time...

i suppose it depends on the person. my sister forgetting sunscreen just makes her itchy a little... but i guess there are some people it could be dangerous...

i dont want them injured in any way... i just wouldnt make their lives more comfortable...

we are a devious lot aren't we?

Do not tell them about counter service either and how there are nice CMs who will carry their trays for them. Do not tell them about the helpful CMs in stores who will get things down from the top shelf even if you are not in a chair. Let them find the disabled parade viewing area and let them see the fireworks from a crowd instead of that secret spot you learned about on the board.

I got blisters the first time I ever used and ECV but everyone knows where the first aid is located.:woohoo: :scared1:

May I be mean here for a moment? I wish them to encounter just ONE person in an ECV, or who cannot transfer from a wheelchair, already waiting for any bus they wish to board. That will mean that, no matter what, it will take them three different buses to get anywhere:
Bus 1: Waiting Guest plus one member of OP's party
Bus 2: Two more members of OP's party
Bus 3: Last member of OP's party
or
Bus 1: Waiting Guest, or waiting Guest plus one Guest behind them in line
Bus 2: Two members of OP's party
Bus 3: Other two members of OP's party

And if there are three or more Guests already waiting, it will take them even longer. They should PLAN for a minimum of an hour to get anywhere.

Oh, and the OP isn't going to mention the possibility of that special transportation van, is she? ;)

You are just a wonderful group!!! My in-laws are the most hateful people on earth - they loathe me... Why? because I stood up to their lazy ways and making their son do everything for them - they used to call him on the phone (when we lived about 15 min. from them - but now 5 hours!!!) to unload their groceries, they are not disabled or elderly - just LAZY -

I am not helping them one iota - not one tip, secret, special viewing spot, free water giving, dole whip eating, I love eeyore moment!!!!

and I hope if you see them (9/14 - 9/19) - you'll all run them over with your well-deserved EVC's

this is the reason many people (wrongfully) look down on and get irritated with "hold ups" at the bus stops. those who truly need wheelchairs, ECVs, even if their handicap is not obvious suffer because of lazy people.

IF you don't want to walk around the parks, but CAN, you should rent ECVs AT the park, and not hold up the whole bus line. (and make truly handicapped people wait for 3 busses to come). just spending the money on an ECV should not entitle you to front of the line priviledges, esp. at the bus stops. those are for special needs people .

Ehm, DH used to be just about as an easy push-over as they are lazy. Is there even the slightest risk he'll relapse into the same during your trip? I mean, getting somebody to drive 15 minutes to unload groceries just because the people the groceries are for are lazy, that is being a serious pushover. Will he be able to ignore all the major compaining and whining these people will overflow him with? Because complain, they will! They're in for a nasty surprise and knowing these type of people that will invoke whining like nothing else. You might want to talk this over with DH beforehand, so he can 'build a wall' to prevent him getting suckered back in.

Oh, and very helpfull willing you will of course suggest them to do the Kalimanjaro Safari. You will have done that before they -finally ;) - arrived by bus, but as social as you are are very very willing to let them go on later on the day and wait for them. Pick a busy time of course. ;) No line is more killing that than of KS. Even when all the other lines for rides were a max. of about 30 minutes (most walk ups) with the excemption of Soarin' (more than an hour) during my last trip in September the line for KS was about 1,5 hours. Well, it was for those of us using an ECV, wheelchair or powerchair. The regular line splits into 2 lines later on which means a lot longer waiting for the 'disabled' line. That gives you at least another hour without them to enjoy the park and them one more experience to enjoy the downsides of riding an ECV.

And honestly? I hope they run into many many geniun ECV, wheelchair and powerchair users. Not because of the latter, but with all of the long waits I would hope (probably against all odds, but one can always hope) they learn something from those with real needs and how they make it even harder on those who do not have the option and utter laziness like your family in law does.
