I would avoid the host hotel like the plague.....
Just not my style at all.....
I agree with Mike, but some might think i am a prude for not relishing all the host hotel activities.
Some gay people even hate Gay Days, they prefer Disney on their own in smaller groups, but I love the fact you become part of the majority for once a year, not a minority. I think it is important that people see that we are a large part of the community, with huge numbers, and can behave respectively like everyone else.
Disney hotels are very gay friendly to begin with, and Disney could not survive without its gay cast members.
I recommend you just do the parks and stay nearby or on-site the first year, and enjoy the sea of red shirts at the parks. You won't necessarily see a lot of red shirts while your at your Disney Hotel. The last time I went to the Beach Club Villas for Gay Days I only noticed a few couples wearing the red shirts, but once at the park you found out what it was like to be in the majority. It is being in the majority that makes the best part of gay days for me, not the pool parties, and by the way there is a host hotel holding a bear party, but for me I would rather be in Storm A Long Bay at Disney.
I love Typhoon Lagoon, but I would rather be there on a normal day, and not for the private Pool Party on Gay Days, but I probably would have done it when I was 25.
It is too bad they shut down the clubs at Pleasure Island, but the Boardwalk has some nice clubs that are gay friendly, and City Walk at Universal is gay friendly.
If you catch me at the Parliament House, don't tell Mike you saw me.
(Just kidding, I am not going to Gay Days this year, maybe next year).
