How many Disney GC have you purchased at Target?

We purchased $3000 (last year) for our trip - but needing to purchase considerably more this year for larger group. We are signing up for prescriptions as well. Just curious - what is the largest amount purchased by anyone here? Thanks,

What additional benefits do you get with signing up for prescriptions? Do you need to actually fill your prescriptions there, or just sign up? I do have the Target card for 5% discount.

For every 5 prescriptions you get a 5% off coupon that you can stack with your Target card discount.

Hope to help!

Beware of the prescription addition. Depending on who you have your prescription insurance with - government, etc. - they might not be counted. We found out the hard way after expecting an additional 5% savings.

To answer the question, the most we ever bought at one time was $1200.

I purchased almost $4000 about two months ago when I got a pharmacy rewards coupon. The problem you will face is either reaching your credit limit if you have the red card credit card or your bank rejecting your purchase if you have the debit card. I even called customer service prior and they cannot manually increase your credit line. Once I hit my credit limit a manager assisted me and allowed me to use another form of payment to complete the transaction and still gave me the red card and pharmacy discounts.

I don't buy a lot at once. Usually about 6 months before a trip I'll buy $300-$500 at a time every few weeks or so. Last trip I took $2,500. Not every Target in our area sells Disney gift cards so I try not to take all of them at once in case other people are wanting them too.

Question: Do you ever call Disney and ask them to credit your account with the Disney GC you purchase ahead of time, or do you just end up carrying 50 GCs with you and have them applied when you get there?

You can apply the GC's to your Disney reservation online or over the phone. No reason to carry them to FL.

It is also not valid in certain states, NY is one of them. I don't know the others though.

I purchased about $4500 in a few days period, but ran into the same problem as meggybear17 hit the credit cap on Red Card and had to get permission to use another credit card but still get the discount. Pretty much spent half a day going to several different Target's and buying out their stock. A couple stores limited how many I could purchase which was frustrating.

Purchased $2200 in one transaction twice, three months apart with the Target Debit Card. Other than the time it took the register to activate all the cards (about 15-20 seconds while it approved payment), no problems, thankfully.

With our prescription reward both times, we saved $500 total doing this, which is just fine by me!

WOW! Glad I signed on, tonight. My jaw is still hanging, I'll bet. NEVER dawned on me that I would be able to use the 5% discount from pharm purchases on Disney Gift cards. Hot dang. Now just to dig out the Red card...
Thanks for posting!

Since we typically rent DVC points, we usually just use gift cards for stuff there. However, we did do a 2 night stay at the Poly last year before moving to OKW. I wasn't sure if we could call and apply gift cards to a room only reservation since it won't let you do it online so I just waited until we got there. Luckily, it was only 8 gift cards for the balance.

The rest of the gift cards I keep in the safe in the room during the week. I only take 2-3 at a time with me so that they don't all get jumbled up (it can be difficult to keep them straight if you have too many with you and aren't keeping track of which ones you're using). You can also use gift cards to pre-purchase the Photopass CD and special event tickets (like MNSSHP and MVMCP).

Since we saved $125 by buying the gift cards during our last trip ($600 was used to buy an annual pass when we got there), we joked that our dinner at California Grill was courtesy of Target.
