How many dining reservations?

We are coming up on the 180 day mark, and I am trying to figure out our dining reservations. We are on the QS dining plan and are staying at Fort Wilderness which gives us the capability of making some meals at our resort. We are staying 8 days (1/2 of two of them will include travel) but I know for sure there are a couple of days I would like to do a TS lunch or dinner. I am going to shoot for Be Our Guest for lunch in MK one day, and I am thinking Epcot for dinner one night, and lunch or dinner in AK or at another resort one night. How many reservations would you recommend, am I adding too much? Any recommendations on restaurants would be welcome as well! Thanks!

For Epcot, there are many great restaurants. It all depends on what you are looking for and what kind of atmosphere. I recommend Garden Grill and Rose and Crown. For AK, I love Yak and Yeti. If you wanted, you can always use a snack credit at Yak & Yeti Local Foods and get a great tasting fried rice that is very filling. Then save some of your money for TS meal for a meal at a resort.

My husband and I will be in the parks for 4-5 days on our adults only trip. We've only made 2 ADRs and plan to possibly pick up others depending on what's going on. We normally plan a LOT, but this trip is more flexible. At least, that's what I'm telling myself.

I am probably way over booking for my trip, but I want to catch some things I haven't been able to eat at in the past. Another suggestion in EPCOT is Biergarten. Fun atmosphere with the entertainment. In Dec, I plan to catch Chefs de France

I have yet to ever make an ADR.
I go with the flow and find something to eat when I am hungry.

In a 7 to 8 day trip I'll make ADRs ahead of time for possibly 3 meals, the rest is go-with-the-flow either at CS or whatever TS is available day of, and there is usually quite a bit available to chose from. There are a lot of choices at EPCOT, but I always enjoy Spice Road and Garden Grill. For AK Yak and Yeti is at the top of the list. I rarely eat at HS, and at MK my favorite is probably Columbia Harbor House, which is CS. Since you're at Fort Wilderness, you might want to look in to Trail's End.

We usually do one ADR - like we're doing ROL next stay - because we found that as a couple we can eat at the bar comfortably, the bars are self seating, and I prefer the bar location rather than being stuck at a 2-seat table in a corner or 'out of the way' area.

There are many possible answers, but I like one table service meal every other day. Your answer is pretty good, as long as you don't leave any QS credits unused. For some people, a vacation is all about savoring different sit-down restaurants or cramming in their must-eat favorites. For others, eating is an inconvenience that takes time away from getting on rides, or they don't like paying theme park/resort prices for dining.

We always make the maximum amount or reservations that we think we will do or that we want to do 180 days out. As our trip approaches, they dwindle and we cancel reservations and move them around to accommodate how we are feeling as we get closer. :teeth:

Thank you everyone for your suggestions and tips! I wound up booking BOG for lunch, San Angel Inn for lunch, Boathouse for lunch and Narcoosees for our special honeymoon dinner on our last night. I may throw in a couple more here and there as we get closer or even cancel some. My fiance really wanted to do San Angel Inn, but with the food and wine festival going on I don't think we are going to need that one. I have a lot of dietary restrictions and there isn't much for me at AK, so we may just shoot over to the AK resort for QS during our day there since their menus seem better for me. We plan on doing QS any other meals in the cabin.

It's kind of a mix of both I guess. We haven't been since we were kids so we are trying to do the rides that are the most important to us while trying to squeeze in some grown up time too! Whenever I went with my family my parents would do QS and take us all out to one unique restaurant or dinner show per trip. So while it was a tradition to check out someplace new each time, food wasn't the focus and I had no idea how many restaurants are actually there! With so many options it's tough to make decisions! Not a bad problem to have though.

I usually do one a day unless I am going to F&W or F&G (which I seem to be doing more and more these days) then I might have some days without any so that I can experience all of the food kiosks at EPCOT. To save on $$$, I tend to only do lunch ADRs, unless a restaurant I particularly want to try only has dinner. Even if you add too many at this point, you can always cancel later on--just remember to cancel the day before to avoid their fee!
