Considering a 7-8 night split trip between a condo and Fort Wilderness in a pop up camper. How many days at the fort do you recommend?? Looking at a 3-4 night stay at each but want to make sure we don't short change our stay at the fort. Thanks

I'd stay the entire time at the Fort. We've only had 7 days trips and they seem so short,

We have been doing 12-14 days ourselves. Mostly because we drive down from MA and want to make it worth it. We like to have plenty of relaxing days at the Fort to enjoy the pools, fishing and everything else without rushing to the parks each day. This year we got 13 days planned with six park tickets. You can never book too many days at the Fort unless you run out of time! There is plenty to do or just enjoy the serenity. To us, the Fort is as much of an attraction as the parks.

Typically our stays are 10-12 days at the Fort. Out of those, we try to take at least 3-4 days to either stay at the Fort or do a day offsite at another park.

I would pick one or the other. Specially with a pop up. You could easily burn most of a day just getting in and setting up or getting out and tearing down.

Just have days to burn at the condo?

Would be our first disney camping trip and thought breaking it up would be best for the family but...im all for staying at the fort.

To me it depends on how many park days you'll do.

We recommend leaving 1-2 days minimum just to hang out at the Fort and enjoy the stuff you can do there during the day. Swim, bike, explore, take part in activities, etc. Those are also the days we head over to Disney Springs to shop for a while or play putt putt. Or visit a water park.

Our normal mode has been for every day in the parks we have a day NOT in the parks. If you plan to be a theme park warrior and go to the parks every day for any substantive amount of time, you will miss out on the Fort magic. To me a vacation is meant to be relaxing. To me that means some down days.

I love this idea!! We gonna make it happen!!!

We are also camping in a popup in the fort for the first time in Sept. Our plan is 8 days with 7day passes. As of now, it takes us a good 1-2 hours to set up just for a weekend trip so I can't imagine how long set up will be for 8 days.
We will hit the park on check-in after everything is packed up if we can (The kids want to go to Epcot, much to my husband's chagrin but it will be labor day so I think it is a good idea to avoid MK that day).
3 days in park, 1 day OFF to stay at FW, 3 days in park.

The easy answer is, as many as possible.

We only get to WDW and the Fort every 2-3 years so we try to make the most of it. I stretch it as much as we can. Come in on Fiday evening or Saturday morning and stay 8-9 days until the following Sunday.

We are park junkies though. In the parks everyday for, at least, part of the day. We do have Fort days (part of, at least) to go swimming, canoeing, go to the campfire or shop at the trading post.

If you are concerned about everyone being comfortable in a pop up for a week, then a split stay may be nice, but you know your family and what will work for them.

I am a Fort Wilderness camper (max. 6 nights, 6 people, in a popup) - we never go to the parks when we stay there. I think it depends on how many days you are going to spend in the parks. I find the Fort to be a vacation in and of itself and it is a perfect place to do all the things that we love in one place - bikes, fishing, swimming, basketball, relaxing, movies and smores. I would recommend that you don't shortchange it, especially for a first time visit. Have a great time!

My wife wants to make our next stay longer so we can spend a few days just doing stuff at the Fort. We had our nephew our first trip together and this trip we were Park Warrior's. So next trip will hopefully be about 10 days to 2 weeks with a Fort day for every couple in the parks.

I know I am a relatively late comer to this thread. I do have to agree with many. My first thought was "All days". The hassle of setup and tear down and relocate (whether it's another site, campground, hotel or condo) just doesn't make sense to us both in time and money. Let's face it, when you are going to Disney (area) whether going to the parks or NOT, it's expensive! We like to make the most of our time. We have found that the amenities are just as good (if not better) at the Fort then other places you could stay. Sure you don't get your room cleaned every day (but most times we put out the do not disturb sign anyway) but the pool is awesome, nature is fabulous, and the whole experience is great.

If I was going to stay at a resort or a condo, I'd just plan to make the trip at that one location to enjoy what they have to offer. That's me and my family. Yours could be very much different. It does, however, sound like you have come to a conclusion. Either way, I hope you have an awesome time.
