Hello, all! Our family will be headed out west next fall (after Labor Day) and part of our trip will include a visit to Disneyland. We are seasoned Disney World veterans, but this will be our first visit to CA, and I wonder - how many days will be enough to visit the parks? I don't feel like we have to do everything, but we would like to see a good majority of the highlights. I had planned on 2 days and now wonder if that is enough. Don't plan on doing hopper in order to save $. There is so much to see and do between here and there that we are hoping to plan out our time wisely. Thanks in advance!

The DLR parks are packed to the gills with attractions so minimum 3 days for first timers in my estimation. Many people like hoppers because the parks are so close together. The total area of the 2 parks plus the esplanade in between combined are probably no bigger than the size of Epcot, so you can effectively treat them as a single park. If you go during the off season beware that many shows are weekend only.

I would do the 5 day pass. You can see alot more with the 5 day pass.

Five days seems like a luxuriously long amount of time. You'd be able to see everything and still have time to stop and smell the roses. (Or the turkey legs.) The longest I've ever done is three straight days - one was Disneyland Park, one was California Adventure, and the third was split between the Disneyland Hotel and Downtown Disney.

However, we're locals and a trip to Disneyland is definitely NOT a once in a lifetime trip, so if we don't have time to do something, it's no big deal.

I second the notion of park hoppers. It is so much easier to park hop in Disneyland. You don't even have to go through security when you hop from park to park. You just have to go through once, before you enter the entrance plaza. Both parks share an entrance plaza so it's quite convenient.
