How many days?

we are planning a trip to WDW next year. It will be me, my fiance, and our daughters ages 2 & 5.

We are planning to stay for at least a week. I know that we won't be able to see/do everything. But how long do you think we should stay? I was thinking i would like at least 2 days at magic kingdom, and one day at epcot, animal kingdom, and hollywood studios.

what do you think? not enough time? we are flying from Ca.

I think a week is a good time frame. You absolutely need 2 MK days but I would consider adding a second Epcot day too, one centered around FW and the other on WS!

There are never enough days!!! What kind of trip will this be -- are you going to only go on rides that the kids can ride or are you going to want to do the regular rides and parent swap?

Are you the kind of family that keeps going from rope drop to park close??

Are you going to stay on site and use extra magic hours?

What time of year are you going -- a slow time when everyone else is in school?

as long as your budget can get you........ I would go lower cost room for longer stay. Maybe one character meal. but rest quick service. why pop $200 for a $50 meal. Thats entire another day in the park.

break days in the middle or the 1/3 - 2/3 sections of the trip. It helps to pull a 3-4hour nap. Pools are great, resort hopping, down town dis.... gator land is pretty cool.... Afternoon in sit down AC shows are a nicw break from the heat.

We are doing the same when we go next year, and I too wonder if it isn't enough time... I would like to do 2 days at Epcot, one for WS and one for FW, but we don't have the time. We are doing 2 days at MK, one day at each other park, and doing a day off to hit the beach and relax a little. I wish we could do 2 weeks, but having my oldest out of school that long, will not work.

I'd do 7 days minimum with 6 park days and one down day in the middle. I'd do 2 EP, 2 MK, 1 DS, 1 AK. It still won't be enough time to do it all, but you'll get a lot done. For the off-day, you can plan on doing DTD and swimming at your hotel pool.

*Our last trip had kids ages 2.5, 5, and 8 and we had 7 park days and 8 days total, but only 6 of the park days were Disney - other one was IOA. It was the perfect length to feel like we got a lot done but still wanting a little more. We don't take mid-day breaks since my kids don't nap, even at 2 years old. But, we don't go in the summer. We'd need mid-day pool breaks if we went in the summer. (We don't break up our disney days like I suggested, but that's because we know what works for us by now. We need more EP days than most and less AK days than most - and even less MK time. But, if you don't have hoppers and don't know what works best, then my suggested number of days per a park works pretty well for most).

I have to say that we were there 9 days and it almost felt like too much. Granted, we had a lot of bad things happen to us, sickness, ride breakdowns, issues with our room, but we still managed to see everything we wanted to. The last time, I went for 7 days and I remember thinking we wanted more time. So... um, 8?
