How many "days off" do you take at WDW?

Our four trips have ranged from 7-9 nights, and the only day that we've taken off is our departure day on a couple of the trips. Our flights get in early enough to Orlando that we spend the afternoon thru evening at a park on our arrival day, and all the full days until our departure day.

It's totally a personal preference on how you like to tour though. If you are there long enough, the parks tickets become very low priced by the time you are deciding between say, 7 or 8 day park tickets.

If staying a week or less, zero.

If staying more than a week, one or two, but never really "off" - more like lounging around the resort and then spending time at DTD or a water park.

"Days-off" - that's a four-letter word around these parts isn't it?

Prior to this last trip we would get 10-day tickets and stay 9 nights. Trips are so expensive that we stayed the minimum amount of nights needed to use all our days, and having less than 10 park days was not an option ;) So there was not room for rest days. Last trip we were in FL for most of Nov (arrived on the 1st in time for the last MNSSHP and left about 4am on the 25th), so we only did 19 park days and had 5 beach/rest days. We try to go as many days as possible and find it hard to "rest" at WDW (even if it is at the pool). Once we go back to 10-day tix (when APs expire) we won't have any rest days unless staying 11+ nights.

Never been before, but this is our plan for June with 10 day park hoppers. We are there for 13 nights. We would have got more than 10 days, but that was the most we could get.

Arrival- flight lands after 6pm so just check in
4 park days
1 day off
4 park days
1 day off
2 park days
Leave- plane leaves around 4pm so sleep in, eat breakfast, probably go to DTD for a little while.

Have you thought about going to play miniature golf, Disneyquest, or going to Disney's water parks on these off days? By adding the Water Parks and More feature to the ticket You get 10 additional admissions to either of the "mini parks listed" that don't count toward your 10 days (so long as all things are done within 14 days of using the ticket the first time.

Going for 7 nights and doing 6 day park hopper. We figure we can do RDs and then have lazier afternoons, return to parks for dinner etc.

We've never taken an entire day off. We've always done park hoppers, so we can go to multiple parks, resort ADRs, pool time, just resting time. Next trip will be with my mom, so we've decided to not do park hoppers and take it slower with her. She can get around fine, but she will need time to rest her legs. We can do morinings & nights at the park & spend the afternoon resting if we want/need to.

Excellent plan. We've done it before and it works extremely well.

When DH and I go it's only for 3-4 days at a time, so we are in the parks as much as possible, no day off at all.

When I went for a week with my Mom we never left the resort in the morning before 10:00 and we were always back to the resort by 5:00 or 6:00 as she would just get too tired to stay any longer so we would have the evenings "off" but never took a full day "off."

My last trip was last September, for a week with DD. We didn't really take a whole day "off" but she asked for one morning/early afternoon to just hang out by the pool. But we did go to a park later in the afternoon and all evening.

We always get "length of stay" park hopper passes.

Our next trip will be next January, DH and myself along with our DD, her DH, their two children and her DH's parents. DD is planning the trip and she would like to stay 9 nights, but I still don't see us taking a whole day "off." Maybe a morning/early afternoon like last trip so the kids can enjoy swimming, but then go to a park later.

Zero days off, but I don't have children to slow me down yet though so that might change in the future! :cool1:

We've done it both ways and it really just depends on how much time we have. Last year we had a bit of a longer trip and took a day off mid-week. We were still busy that day though, as we slept in, then swam at the pool, went to DTD and then to 1900PF for dinner. Staying on-property with Disney transportation took forever to get from DTD to GF though. On previous trips we used AK as our "rest" day because there wasn't much we did there besides EE and shows. We also typically don't do parks on our arrival or departure days. This year we're doing a shorter trip to save money so there won't be any rest days. MVMCP on our arrival day and AK on our second day so the start will be kind of easy. Plus in November it will be too cold to swim most likely so we'll be good with being in the parks most of the time. I do want to do a longer trip with water parks and more time to explore resorts and such.

The little ones definitely slow you down. No doubt about it. DW and I went in 2006 and 2007 before kids and then we took a kid free trip in May 2013. We went just as hard in 2013 as we did in 2006 & 2007. It was fantastic!

Don't get me wrong...I love taking my kids there and have a blast watching them have the time of their lives. Adult only time in the world is also a lot of fun...especially watching the other parents and their families enjoy it together. It's also just about as much fun to see the families at 8pm that have been there since rope drop, kids passed out in the stroller, Mickey balloon tied to the handle, both holding maps, arguing about which is the quickest way to Space Mountain (while standing smack dab in the middle of Main Street). Been there, done that, have the scars to show it.
