How many days next September?

Starting to plan our first SoCal trip for next September. Thinking of doing a Sun-Thurs at DL. With the new Star Wars Land open I’m sure it will be busier than normal. I’m thinking of four day tickets and doing Sunday evening as one of the “days”. Do you think it would be beneficial to be on site because of this? I was thinking two nights at GCH and two at DLH bc my son would love the monorail pools and would prefer to try both. Won’t likely be back for a long time. (We are from GA and usually do WDW for a week-ten day’s every year). I heard there is hotel construction? Should it be wrapped up by fall 2019?

I personally wouldn’t want the hassle of switching hotels, but that’s your call.

Having just been there, I think I’d want six days to do it all.

Here's a link to the hotel construction that is set to begin sometime this summer.

Go with a 5-day hopper to get the most out of your trip.
Call DLH to check on the monorail pool hours.
When we were there the monorail slide pools were only open a few hours of the day. I can't remembered when it opened each day but I remember it closed at 5pm. The rest of the pool area is open to 8 or 9pm. We were disappointed the monorail slides closed so early each day.

Some things to keep in mind for September planning:
Halloween Time will start in September. This year it starts on September 7th and Mickey's Halloween Party dates start on Sept. 19th (Mickey's Halloween Party and Halloween Time Superthread 2018!!). Be aware that after Labor Day, DLR will probably be on the non-peak/low season schedule, meaning shorter hours, more refurbs, lower staffing, and nighttime entertainment on weekends only (Fri., Sat., Sun.). On MHP nights, fireworks and the night parade at DL will be for party guests only (assuming MHP will be held at DL, not DCA) and there will be no F!. WOC should show nightly at DCA.
Agree about getting 5 day hoppers. Read this thread for lots of good information, too: A DLR Guide for WDW Vets.
