I am thinking of a trip next July (week after 4th) to DL & DCA...my question is how many days should I plan for DL/DCA? We would want to do everything the 2 parks have to offer, but I don't want to be commando completely and stop to enjoy the atmosphere.

Minimum 4; 5 is preferable. This is assuming you follow the pattern of waking up early and get a lot done in those morning hours, taking a midday break, and then coming back for the evening.

I would spend at least 2 days at DCA now. I don't know how the crowds will be next year, but this year with the number of people in Carsland it took quite a while to get through the whole park. If you want to be able to relax and enjoy it slowly I think two days is a minimum now.

IMHO 5 is the minimum now. 2 days in DCA and 3 days in DL to do everything. All the attractions, all the meals, all the meet and greets, and all the entertainment.

I like 5 too. Even 4 1/2 feels rushed to me. We are a family that likes a midday break, pool time, and likes to repeat rides. With carsland I 'd like to do possibly 6 but wee will have to see how that plays out.

I am getting so excited to start making plans for July 2013 also. I am happy to hear DL/DCA is now more of a 5 day vacation:cool1: It will be our first time visiting the west coast & DL

Have to agree. 4 is nice but five feels right. If you stay on property you can relax at the pools more often and really enjoy it.

What he said! :)

4-5 days seems more than enough to me.

I guess it depends on if you really want to go wait for good spots and see every show, and how many fastpasses or if you can go single rider line. To me, I think DCA can be done in one day depending on how long you wait for RSR and luigis. There just aren't as many attractions in it. Unless you really want to go and eat at every restaurant and see every single show. I went last week, and it didn't even seem that crowded in cars land.

For disneyland, I would say 2 days is enough time if you spend all day there. I didn't see any line longer than 45 minutes, less with fast passes, and I feel like I went on every ride I was interested in, some multiple times. Of course, it depends on how completist you want to be, but I am assuming you don't mean you are going to go on every single ride even if it looks like something you don't care for.
