First time trip to DL and wondering how long we should plan on going? How many full days do you need? How long do you spend at each park?

Thanks!:goodvibes

Depends on how busy the parks are, really. If it's low crowds, you can do a lot in 2 days.

3 years ago, we went for 3 days. Last year we went for 4. Our next trip I think we'll do 6 days. You'd think that we'd need less time each subsequent trip, but that doesn't seem to be the case for us. :lmao:

Last year I went for 6 days, this year I'm going for 8 days...I love going for a long period of time because then I can make sure I do EVERYTHING I want to do

For our family, who normally goes during off-season, anywhere between 3-5 days is just about right.

We have gone for 4 days the past couple trips. We do have little ones, so we take our time and have to stand in lines for characters etc. We feel like 4 days is good. This year we are going in July and I added on the 5th day since the price was like $12 for the 4 of us. We won't have 5 days, but I'm hoping we may be able to go in for a couple of hours on our arrival day.

We usually do 3-4 days. This past november we did five days. I hate to say it but i was ready to go home. I seriously rode pirates 15 times and space M i could call out the drops we went on it 10 times. I almost out disneyed my self. But now im ready for thursday when we go back. :]

Our first trip we were there for 2 1/2 days. To us, that was not enough. We also did Universal Studios and Knotts Berry Farm.

Last year we were there for 5 days. That seemed too much. We did ALL Disney. By the last day we were so burnt out of the parks and crowds we mostly stayed at the hotel and swam in the pool.

This year we will be going for 1 1/2 days. Thanks to RideMax, we have all of the rides figured out that we want to go on. We are also going to Universal Studios again and Lego Land.

Last time we did 4 days, we did everything we wanted to in 3 days, then re-did anything we loved again on the 4th day. We go during the summer season and we have 3 small kids. You could probably get more done in less time if you don't have little kids.

I just have a question! We are going for 7 days starting on 03/27/2010, which I realize is spring break. Is that going to be enough time to do everything at DLR and DCA? Or should I get Ridemax? And I'm also curious if anyone has used Ridemax, if they would recommend it?

I think that sounds like enough time, IMO. In reference to the thread question, we got for 7 nights 8 days since we come from Florida, so for such a long trip we do a 6-day PH.

I went to DL for the first time and stayed 3 days, I was surprised at how small it seemed after going to WDW but we did just about everything we wanted to in the 3 days.

Our last trip was 6 days and 6 nights. We thoroughly enjoyed the trip. Our party consisted of 3 adults and 2 small children. We stayed at the DLH. Usually we only go for 3 days and 3 nights, but decided to go longer this time. It was well worth it! We were able to see and experience more of DL and DCA, go swimming in DLH Neverland Pool in the warm afternoons, eat at all the character meals and other dining places we wanted, and just relax and enjoy being there more. Our group loved the extra days!!

I am using RideMax for the first time this year. One of the neat things is that you can pick the rides you want to go on each day and they will give you the order to ride them in. I am sure in 7 days you will be able to do everything, but RideMax may make it easier to plan and minimize wait time.

We go for three full days. It just seems perfect for us.

For a frist trip during summer or Christmas (week before or after) I would go for 4 - 5 days.

We always go for 7 days, 8 this time. We never feel rushed and are able to enjoy all of the details that make the DLR truly magical. We have been 7 times in the past 3 years and every trip there is some little thing that we plan to do that we don't get to. It always gives us something to look forward to on the next trip. We are always at the parks at opening (traveling from CST makes this so easy) and take things at a leisurely pace, usually swimming in the afternoon and heading back to the parks for the evening when the parks are open late. We all have a magical time and never feel like we've had enough Disney. I think part of the reason that we enjoy our trips to the DLR resort is that they leave us feeling truly rested and relaxed. It seems like we all really get along with each other in sunny California and come home feeling rejuvenated.

Like someone else posted, our trips seem to get longer every year! When my kids were younger, it was 3 days.....by last year it was 6 days. When we go in the fall, it'll be a bit different. We're going for a conference. We'll be staying onsite for 8 days, but there will be 2-3 days in the middle of the stay where we won't be going into the parks at all.

I have some fairly significant health problems, so I enjoy the longer trips. I spend about half of the trip napping our lounging at poolside. I made it to day 5 before getting too sick last time, which was a record. On shorter trips we tend to push too hard and I end up paying dearly.

A little off topic but I just love the picture in your signature Mouse13.

Thanks, it's a special photo to us. We didn't even realize it was in our Photopass photos until we were back at home and then it really made us smile. It's even more special now that DCA has changed.....
