Hi there! I'm new to Universal so I've got a ton of questions. Hope someone can help me out. :)

My family of six will be visiting Universal December 28th through Jan 1st. We are staying on-site, so we will take advantage of early entry to IoA for WWoHP and express pass. I suspect that we could get it all done in two days any other time of the year, but I'm not so sure about Christmas break, taking into consideration the crowds and the extra offerings. What do you think?

you are going at a high level time period.

it will be crowded.

you will thank your lucky stars that you are on site and can use the express lines and early entry!!!

you'll want to take in the grinchmas things for sure.
i don't think you'll be able to accomplish everything in a 2 day period with 6 in your group.

count on doing the parks for at least 3 days.

others might differ from my opinion but that's quite okay.

Thanks for the prompt reply, macraven! I appreciate your input since I have no idea what to expect.

Do you have any suggestions on how to schedule those three days? Two at IoA and one at US? (I'm big on planning everything down to where I'll be eating each meal and when I'll be taking breaks. Works for me at WDW. Should I be less rigid in my US planning?)

Assuming you don't have park-to-park, then do first day at one park, second day at the other. Choose your group's favorite for the third. Order doesn't matter as both parks will be jammed. You will be spoiled by onsite Express. With it, you'll find planning like you're used to for Disney is unnecessary.

since you are going during a crowded holiday period, use www.opentable.com for some of the city walk, and universal restaurants for a ressie.

i believe you can make them 60 days out?

when i make a ressie, i do it at the kiosk ressie area at city walk.
and it is either for that day or one day during my stay.

but i go early october and not an issue in securing a table.

yes, mesa is right!
one park one day, the other the next.
third go to the one you want to do repeat rides.
