My family staged an intervention on me today. My husband and daughter sat me down and told me that the time had come for me to clean out the coffee mug shelves (yes, plural). They said I have to admit my problem and begin to do something about it.

So I am here to say:

My name is Lovetoscrap and I am addicted to coffee mugs. :coffee:

It started innocently enough. It was a great souvenir for a trip.:thumbsup2 A coffee mug to make me smile each morning as it reminded me of where I had got it. Hersey Park. Great Wolf Lodge. Disney. Caymen Islands. Cruise ships.

But then locations began selling regular mugs AND travel mugs. I had to have one of each!

And then there are those places that I go that sell their travel mug and if you have one you get your coffee free or discounted in the future--you HAVE to buy one of those! ::yes::

But sometimes you forget to bring it with you.:headache:

So you have to buy another one. :rolleyes1

My last two sets of dishes have had AWESOME mugs with them! Not those cutesy dainty "teacups". MUGS. Real mugs. They are great for coffee or soup or tea or hot chocolate--especially for my kids, since I won't let them use my souvenir mugs!:scared:

And have you seen the mugs Disney sells??? One for each year! :woohoo: Different ones for each park! :yay: Ones for each character! ::MickeyMo::MinnieMopluto::tinker: You must have an entire set, you know. ::yes:: And we won't even talk about the refillable mugs I have to buy each trip (cause we all know that you can't bring them back and reuse them ;) )

Look, I'm not stupid. :duck: I know that I have way more coffee cups than I could possibly use-- so some of them are just for display! :thumbsup2

On a shelf in my dining room.

and. . . On a shelf in my bedroom.

and. . . In a display cabinet in my bedroom.

:teeth:

DD13 took ALL of my "everyday" coffee cups out of the cabinets. All the ones that are not considered "display only". And she counted them.

53

(that didn't include the one in the dishwasher or the one next to my computer):ssst:

Apparently my family things that a total of 53 (55) Coffee Mugs is too many. :snooty: Especially since I am the only one that regularly drinks coffee in the house. :surfweb:

So anyone want to help me out here??? :confused3 How many coffee cups/mugs do you have in your house for actual use? popcorn::

I have 8 that I use for company- other than that I have 2. My brother is a teacher so he is always getting mugs and trying to pawn them off on me but they go right in the trash- not cluttering up MY cabinets with his stupid teacher mugs!

My husband said I better not bring anymore home (he really doesn't care) but I tell him sometimes I want a certain cup to drink out of ya know sometimes you want a mug sometimes you want china, sometimes you want a disney mug, sometimes you want a different shaped mug...it goes on and on so far he has fallen for it!!!! lol!!!

I have tons. I get one everytime we go away, even if its someplace we have been before. Dh feeds my addiction as well and always brings me home one when he travels for work.

I have about 12 and they are all from WDW back when the parks used to carry mugs. When I couldn't get them from my vacations anymore I stopped collecting them. My favorite is a gigantic oddly shaped Goofy mug.

Wellll, I'm not as bad as you are;), but I do enjoy drinking out of my different mugs. So....not counting the china, company casual set, everyday dish set, I have roughly 15 ceramic mugs and 16 refillable mugs from WDW. I think I have enough. But whenever I am cruising Goodwill and find a mug with Disney anything, I buy it. What can I say, each mug means something so I enjoy all of them.

Only one person in this house drinks coffee--DH. I have never personally purchased a coffee cup. Not counting the set that came with my grandmother's china, we have TWENTY-FIVE coffee mugs. People keep giving them to me as gifts. :confused3 I think since folks know I don't drink coffee, they must figure that I wouldn't have a mug around if I wanted some hot chocolate or tea. :rotfl: DH has a wide selection for his coffee now.

I didn't include the refillable Disney mugs in that count since I use those as travel mugs for pop or water.

About 50.....we don't drink coffee, so they are used for tea mostly.
No travel mugs....just regular ones. Mostly Disney, but a couple others too.

Well, I don't know if I have 53 or not, but I do have quite a few! I have 4 Patriots mugs and 2 Patriot travel mugs. 3 Disney travel mugs and quite a few Disney coffee mugs. Then I have "regular" coffee mugs...like mom ones and just pretty ones....really too many. Even I know that. But how do you weed them out? I've done it a couple times so now I just have the really important ones....you know a couple shelves worth :) Harmless fun I say!!!

I think you are the female version of my DH! He loves his coffee mugs! He loves his coffee, too! And, it doesn't matter if they sell the same travel refillable mugs on the next visit, he'll want to buy them again. I have to admit that I enjoy drinking out of my Disney mugs/travel mugs, too. It makes me think of all the happy memories made and yet to come at Disney World!

We have 50 or more of them but that includes the 12 from our china set. My mom is addicted to travel mugs and I was lucky that the only one she felt she needed from our trip was the refillable one at the resort.

I too have a collection mostly disney but I do use them frequently.

I have the same addicition.... Every where I go, I buy myself a mug ( my mother is bringing me a new one back from Disney Monday...) I to have display ones and drinking ones. We moved so all of them arent' even out yet. I will have to slowly bring them out, maybe rotate them. This addiction is secondary to my addiction to tote bags I have 25 of those.

Uggg, way to many, just donated a box full :guilty:! I'm guessing 50 or more mugs left in my china closet, not counting my 2 sets of china cups. We collect from each state/island visited, plus have asst gift ones of Mom/Dad, Grandparent mugs, Army, etc. The one I use every morn is a Mickey mug! Funny how coffee tastes the best in it! :goodvibes

I don't have room for 53, but I've got the inclination.

By the way, did you all see the silhouette ones that were new this year? There was a Pooh, Mary Poppins and Peter Pan. We went in August, and I'm STILL craving that darn mug. I'm thinking the Peter Pan one... :rotfl:

I have 28 mugs - some are for tea, but most are coffee mugs. That doesn't include the cups from my china.

I thought I was doing really well when I cleared out my cabinets of all the mugs I never used anymore. But all it did was leave room for new ones. :lmao:

I am no longer allowed unsupervised trips to Starbucks :rolleyes1

My mom has a collection of coffee mugs from all 50 states! She keeps them on a shelf in my old bedroom. Once in a while, she takes them all to the kitchen to wash them and puts them back, alphabetically, on the shelf. She never drinks out of them. They're just to look at.

I have one shelf, double stacked and a row of hangers in the back for the tea cups that go with the dishes. I also have two sets from my good dishes, one tea cups and one more of a mug. Then there's that box in the basement I filled with the mugs I couldn't fit on the shelves.... :)

I do like mugs and tea infusers.;) Now I do not buy a mug for every place I go.

Basically, I get rid of them once they get icky inside with the cheapy mugs. You know how they get all scratched up inside the mug? That is when it is time to say goodbye.

I would not have 55 mugs in my kitchen and would have to box up a quarter of those and put them in the basement.

So you need a set of criteria to get rid of your mugs.;) AND you have to stop buying mugs when you go somewhere. STOP THE MADNESS!!!!

I don't know. At least 20. Several belong to my wife, but I have my Boy Scout ones (one of which is my "normal" coffee mug, since it holds a full two cups of coffee), a couple Star Wars one, a Marvin the Martian one. . . .

My dad used to have a collection of Boy Scout mugs (still might, for all I know) that was well over 50. He doesn't drink coffee (but does drink tea), but rarely used more than a couple. The rest were for display.
