How many character meals in a one-week trip?

We have 4 character meals scheduled in our 7 day trip... I figured it would be the best way for my children to see the chars without the lines and easier on my child with special needs.

Dinner at Crystal Palace
Lunch at Storybook Princesses
Dinner at Chef Mickeys
Dinner at Garden Grill

Our regular table service non character meals ressies include boma, sci-fi dine in, and tony's.

Lunch with Playhouse Disney
Ohana Breakfast with Lilo and Stitch
Lunch at Akershus - Storytime with Princesses
Planet Hollywood in Downtown Disney
and Finally Breakfast at Cinderella's Royal Table

Even though this is my first trip to WDW I am with the others you can't have too many character dinings as long as you are not seeing the same characters

We had 6 character meals on a 7 night trip. We definately prefer TS meals. We would also rather have DD5 have a chance to see characters in a dining setting than having to wait in line forever in the parks. We would have done more if we hadn't already covered all of thencharacters that are available.

In May 2006, we did 3 character meals in 7 days (CP dinner, CM breakfast, GG dinner) We probably could have done without the 3rd - would have gladly skipped CM breakfast. We had a terrible time there .
In Feb 2007, we did 2 character meals in 6 days (CM dinner, Cape May breakfast). We really loved Cape May. CM for dinner was better than our prior breakfast experience, but for both of these meals, we had ADRs right as the place opened so neither was very crowded and we had lots of time with the characters.
For our upcoming trip we will be trying CP breakfast and GG dinner (7 day trip). 2 character meals per trip is just about right for us, and with these 2 we will see different characters at each. By the way, we love, love, love GG ! However, we don't have girls so wouldn't be up for one of the princess character meals. And, we do not wait in lines to meet characters at the parks.

Character meals are a great place to see the characters and get autographs without spending time in line at the parks. We usually do 3 or 4 for a week-long trip. My 15yo DS, who will be starting college next month, informed me that he definitely wants to eat in the castle on our trip next year. I guess dinner with the princesses takes on a whole new meaning at some point!
