We have a DVD camcorder, that hardly gets any use, and it should.
Do you bring yours to DW or is it just more of a hassle??

I have only brought it w/ me once before on a trip but that was just us Big kids.. now that I have a child of my own, I plan on bringing it everywhere... I can honestly say its so small I cant see it being a hassle for me... Its just trying to remember to charge it at night!!! :rotfl:

I just bought a Canon mini-DV and brouht it to WDW and it works GREAT!!! I taped EVERYTHING I could - the kids (no-brainer there ;) ), Test Track, IASM, Pirates, practically anything you could name, but didn't use it where they said no taping...and the cool thing about this camera is it has a dark mode where you can record with no camera lights to bug anyone. So take yours and enjoy it - I went through 4 tapes in the blink of an eye. Plus the lens didn't fog up!!! Mega-bonus, there.

We used to bring one of the older video cameras way baack when, took alot of movies of the kids. Now that the kids are grown and gone, we have taken ours a couple of times but hardly used it. Lately, we just leave it at home, ours is small, compact C tapes but a pain to pack and haul and when we go into the parks the less we carry the happier we are. We just came back from our 39th trip and did not take it at all, just my digital and wifes digital and took together about 125 snapshots. If I take mine its usually evening or when we're exploring outside the parks. With weight limits on bags, a camera and accessories plus charger adds up.

i brought mine for our last trip but never used it. mine is also really small. i just didnt want to worry about losing it. packing it and it getting banged around on the rides so i didnt even use it. that doesnt mean you shouldnt bring yours. good luck what ever you do.:thumbsup2

We took ours the first trip, and haven't taken it since. Ours is very small, but digital pics are just so much easier. After our next trip I plan on making a picture dvd and burn the pics onto that instead of printing them out.:thumbsup2

We just bought a JVC mini DV camcorder a few months ago to bring with us on our next trip, which is in Dec. We are looking to tape some of the shows, parades, fireworks etc instead of taken pics. It's compact and fits the new fanny pack I bought. So we'll see how it goes. popcorn::

We took ours several times.............
And we will be taking it with us on our upcoming cruise.

We make a video gift every year for our parents......and they love to see the kids at the parks and other places and not have to have went themselves!

My Dh carries it with him and that is all he has to worry about i carry any other items we need.

We do take our video camera with us. It has a hard drive (no tapes or DVD's) so it can record up to 24 hours without messing with the tapes, etc. :thumbsup2 Yes, it is a pain sometimes to get it out during your vacation when you just want to enjoy your time there. But once we get back home (Thousands of dollars later!! :rotfl: )and our vacation is over... I'm always so glad we used the video camera because a still picture is just not the same as hearing the sounds of Disney and the voices of your kids enjoying themselves.

My camera has a movie mode on it that is actually really good. So, I bring a few extra memory cards and just take snippets of video that way. Then I upload them to my computer each night to make room for it. I hate lugging around a video camera and a still camera, etc.

I think it would be a hassle to bring along. If it was your hobby and something you loved to do ie. taking the pictures, making movies, watching them together.... all of that then I would say bring it. For instance photo taking is my hobby. I love it. So for me carrying a camera is so worth it.

We often think of photos/movies for the big outings. Looking back on photos of your youth it is great to see everyday things: your house, your room, your dog, your back yard, your friends.... Of course photos of the big outings are great too.

My point is use that camera at home. Interview the kids. Ask them what they are most looking forward to. If you bought special clothes have the kids show them off... Then after the trip do the same thing. Talk about the favorite rides and attractions, show off what you bought.... It will be fun to look back on later and really show the kids' personalities. That way you can have the memories, without lugging around the video recorder.

I bring my camcorder & digital camera with me on every trip to WDW. I find it a great way to remember my trips. It also comes in handy when I'm going through WDW withdrawal. The camcorder I use is small, so it's easy to take around.

We did a family reunion in WDW in 1998 or so and I filmed EVERYTHING. We have watched it a few times in the last few years when we are all together, so it is good in that way, but I kind of feel like I was watching the vacation at the time and not living it, so I have yet to bring it since. If you want park video, buy some of the DVDs about the parks and in and around them. I like the idea of filming the kids before and after, maybe even every night when you get back to the room do a "recap" of the day with them. When you get home edit in some photos from the day with the kids "interviews" and you have a wonderful memory!
DS says his favorite ride of the day was Splash mountain, after he says it click to a shot of him getting off the ride soaked! or the ride shot down the drop that you buy from dis.

We just got back from Disney and brought our DVD recorder - we were SO happy we did. It wasn't too difficult - I carried it around in my backpack purse, which was very easy.

I plan on taking mine this trip. I probably won't take it to the parks everyday, but we're going for my friend's birthday and it's just her and me and I'm sure her family will want to see us celebrating. It's friends time since our kids are in school and her husband says he'll only go if we can guarantee no one else will be there.

We decided to take ours every other trip. We take tons of digital pics on every trip we take but I found the video to be more of a hassle most of the time. It is just DH and I though....no kids.

Our third family trip was in August and we brought the video camera for the first time. I am SO glad we did! We have some wonderful memories caught on tape that will be great to embarrass the kids with when they get older! :rotfl: I always take a ton of digital pictures (anywhere from 500-800, gotta love digital cameras!) but there's nothing like the video we have. Ours is small enough to fit in a fanny pack so it was no problem on rides.

Yay! :yay: We just bought the same one and are excited to use it for the first time on our October trip! We never brought one with us before!

We take ours and when we get home, my DH makes a DVD of everything we taped and adds pictures. It's really cool-we add in music and everything. I want a hard-drive camcorder for our next trip!

We've had our DVD camera 2 years now and we average about a disc a day at WDW. I have recorded most of the shows (some twice) and most of the rides, parades, fireworks and other various and sundry. This camera has great low-light and ultra-low light, so I can shoot anywhere.
They fround on me using the extra infrared attachment in Pirates. :)

I don't know about other types of cameras, but, our Sony also does stills and most of what we take are stills, but, there is LOTS of video also.
