I'm trying to figure out our strategy for 12/26-12/30 (yes I know we are crazy). How many attractions do you thing we can realistically do a day? We plan on being there for rope drop and when dland gets too crazy, hop over to CA. I'm starting to get a little anxious about the crowd thing.

Also, anyone have a touring plan for that time frame they'd be willing to share?

We will be there the same time next year and I too am interested in what everyone has to say.

During other high-capacity days, I typically still manage about 18-20 attractions a day. This is done through ample use of fast passes, smart touring (going against the typical flows), and refusing to stand in line for anything over 15-20 minutes. On my more typical touring days (lower capacity times), I usually get 23-25+.

Honestly, there are as many different answers to that question as there are individual preferences. The best thing to do would be to part with the $15 for a year membership to TouringPlans and create a custom plan with the attractions that interest YOU. Spread out the activities that top your list through the morning and evening so that if you aren't making it with the schedule, you can drop lower priority rides throughout the day to preserve the ones you really want.

Attraction count is not the be-all, end-all. You can get a high attraction count if you do Snow White and Pinoc, the main street vehicles, and tea cups, little mermaid, monsters, tea cups, single riders... You can get a high ride count, if you are willing to run back and forth across the park, but you end up foot sore and exhausted.

you list 5 days. Are you doing 5 day hoppers? Where are you staying? How many in your group and ages? Thrill rides or dark rides? What hotel are you staying at?

General hints:
My Disney park rules:
Be at the gate at least half hour before opening (a full hour is better)! The MOST IMPORTANT 2-3 hours is the FIRST 2-3 hours the park is open. You can get more done in the first 3 hours than 6 hours later in the day.

Grab Fastpasses with 40 min out return time, so you can grab another FP 40 mins later. In December, Space, then Indy, then Star Tours. Go in the wrong order, such as Indy first, then by the time you get to Space it will be 2 hours away and you can't get another for 2 hours. Only 1 person needs to be present to get FP for everyone. Runner go get passes and meet up with others at next ride.

If in a group of more than 2, when one needs to use the restroom, ALL need to use the restroom. Otherwise, someone has to use the restroom after every ride.

Don't go with smokers. Smokers can cut your attraction bout SIGNIFICANTLY!

Backpack snacks! Don't eat at normal meal times. Breakfast, backpack snacks to tide you over, then lunner (lunch-dinner), then more snacks.

If young-uns, STRONGLY consider a break mid-day. Do the break before you are burned out.... I've stuck around until like 4 or 5, when everyone is tired.. go back to the room for a couple hours, and suddenly it is 6 or 7, and everyone wants to order in pizza and go to sleep early. Hit the room at 1 or 2, by 4 everyone is ready to grab lunner at McD on the way back into the park.

Plans:
Thrill ride plan would be something like:
Get FP to space mt.
Ride Space Mt. (10-15 mins)
Ride Matterhorn (20 mins?)
Get FP to Indiana Jones
Ride Indiana Jones (depending on if the 40 mins are up, may need to ride, then get FP)
Ride Space Mt with fastpass
Get FP to Star Tours
Ride Big Thunder
Ride Indy with FP
(If you get lucky and it is going to be warm, maybe a ride on Splash Mt.)

For DCA, it is Radiator Springs Racers to get FP to first.
Then ToT (especially since it is closing Jan 2). I've literally been elbowed in the face trying to get to ToT at rope drop.
Soarin'
Screamin' has lower wait time later in the day due to higher capacity

Mermaid had super high capacity so goes fast even if a long line.
Mater's and Luigie's car rides are really cute and fun!

These rides all have short ride-time, and early in the day should have short waits (but much longer later in the day).
Avoid the long ride-time rides until later (pirates, mansion, subs)

If you have a magic morning and have young ones, then:
Peter Pan
Dumbo
Toad
Alice
(Long ride-times to avoid early: subs, small world)

If you have a smart phone, download the official disneyland ap, and learn it before you go. You can not only see the wait times, but also the current fastpass return time for FPs being handed out. Before you even go, you can watch the park from afar and see wait times and fp return times and such to help plan your specific trip.

I prefer RideMax over TouringPlans, though I do use them both. After all, planning for your rides makes the time waiting for your trip to go faster. I think RM has a better handle on DLR crowd flows whereas TP handles WDW better.

I just don't like that you can't plan a Sunday with RideMax

Although I wish they did Sundays, I get why they don't. If I'm going to be there on a Sunday, I just plug in the Saturday before. It works pretty well. It would be different if they truly had a crystal ball and were able to tell the exact crowd levels for your upcoming day.

Yeah I'm going to be there on the 25th, so I figure I'll use the 31st as the model....
