I'm traveling with a party of 7. We asked to be seated together. Will we get a table by ourselves or wil we be seated with others?

If your reservations (booking) is joined and you ASK to be seated together, there is very good chance you will be. With a group of seven, it is likely you will be seated by yourselves.

Our table seated 10, so it is POSSIBLE depending on the make-up of your party that you could be seated with others but I agree that it would seem unlikely as there are more smaller tables than ones as large as the one we were seated at.

After 9 DCL cruises we have just about every table configuration possible.

We have had a party of 14 all seated at one VERY large table, we have had our party of 5 seated with 3 others at table for 8 and we were once a party of 7 seated with 1 other travelling alone at a table for 8.

We have our party of 16 at two tables for 8 near each other.....we have had a party of 2 at a table for 4 but no one else seated with us. Anything could happen.

Most likely you will be at a table for 8, but you may have 1 other as we did.

If after the first dinner you really feel your tablemates and you are not compatible...ask to be moved. We were forced to do this once as our single table mate was off his rocker, literally. They actually moved him to a table by himself. He even made the servers cry...he was just horrible.

That's the kind of person you'd like to see thrown overboard...

He was mentally ill...how he even was travelling on his own was beyond us. He attended the first night's dinner in a stained tank top and cut off jeans. He would take food off my kids' plates and put it back...like playing a game. At first we thought he was just kidding but then he kept doing it even after we asked him to stop. Then he started groping at our friend and that's when we asked the Head Server to come to our rescue.

He was disabled and in a wheelchair and verbally abusive to the wait staff. He need assistance all the time and saw him randomly ask people to push him around. We saw him other times and he did not even give a hint of recognition that he had dinner with us (thank goodness). Again, how is was able to cruise on his own is still a mystery.

Picture the character Lt. Dan from Forrest Gump after he came back from Vietnam....it was him to a tee.

I'll echo mmouse. After 9 cruises, we've had about every configuration possible....2 of us at a table for 4, 2 at a table for 8 with 4 other people (2 groups of 2), 2 of us with a family of 3.... One time, we were asked if we would mind joining a group of about 15 (this was as a special favor to our serving team, and is not a routine thing...the other family was also asked, and it ended up being a really fun thing).

If you ask that the 7 of you be seated together with no one else, you will be. Also, if there is a problem at the first night, you can ask to be moved.

We've never had a problem when we've had dining companions. I think that DCL makes a real effort to seat "like" families together. WHen we were seated with 2 other twosomes, each had a girl within a couple years of my daughter's age. One was travelling with a mom, one with a grandma. When we were with a family of 3, their daughter was within 2 years younger than mine.

I can't imagine that there would be a problem keeping your group "alone together." Just ask now (if you've made reservations).

In the main dinning rooms there are tables for 4, 6, 8, 12 and 14. Probably some other sizes. We have sat with 1, 2 or 4 other families at tables that either seat 8 or 14.
