How loyal are you to your TA?

Currently I have a trip booked with a travel agent. I will need to cancel the trip but I want to rebook to WDW. I was quoted a rate $200 more then AAA. If a switch to AAA, I will only be saving $150 due to cancellation fees.

I feel bad/guilty to switch because I feel bad that the TA has been working with me from the beginning. But my friend thinks I should switch because TA are used to these things happening?? She thinks I would be crazy not to switch.

well tough question, kinda feel like there your friend because you have been working on your trip for so long.

I too just canceled a Disney Cruise for this summer so dont feel to bad.

I would tell the TA that you can get your trip cheaper throught AAA and can they match that rate. try that first and give them a chance to match that rate if not I would cancel, it least your giving them a chance to keep your business.

Couldn't this TA get the AAA rate for you? Disney travel specialists do it all the time. My concern would be, why didn't they pursue a AAA in the first place?

I would try to see if the ta will match the rate. We try to match a lower rate before we lose a sale at my office. Good Luck!

Interesting Question.

I guess it would depend on how long I have been working with my old agent and the amount and level of service she gave you. Did she help you with resort selection, hashing back and forth which would work best for you? Help with dates, idea's, tips and tricks?

To me $150 is a lot of money, but if I was working with someone I clicked with, got information from, and liked-I think I would stick with them. Service has to be worth something these days, and if she worked hard for you how can you take her information elsewhere? If it was more money than that I may think otherwise.

I guess this is why so many agencies around here charge for their consultation services, as do many other professional consultants in their lines of work. It is not fair for People who work hard to get no pay for their work.

I think that sometimes the best price is not always the best value.

But, that is just my 2 cents.

As a travel agent I can tell you that we are able to get you AAA rates. I would tell your agent the deal you were able to get through AAA, we are able to get those same rates.

Can a non AAA agent book a AAA package with Dining? I assumed this was what she had since her agent didn't get it. I could be (and probably am) wrong.

You cannot get a AAA or Annual Passholder discount and still get the package that includes dining.

You have to go through AAA in order to do the Dining package with the discount.

It's been posted that AAA travel offices can book AAA discounted rooms with MYW dining.

You can ONLY get the AAA room discount with MYW dining through an AAA travel agent. Any agent can get you the room-only AAA discount.

Only you can answer this. If you have a really good relationship with your TA I would suggest staying with her/him.

Keep one thing in mind, travel agents do not get paid a dime until you actually travel and check into the resort. When you check out is when their commission is processed. So basically any work they do up until you travel they aren't getting paid for it
