for all you trip planners, as i've been saying over and over, the US dollar hadn't hit bottom yet...

according to the xrate i'm looking at on yahoo right now, one British Pound is now worth US$ 2.0466

(and for anyone who cares, the canadian dollar is now worth more than the US dollar - totally freak me out...)...

but how much lower can it go????????

as long as it stays there or gets lower (the dollar) for April 08 (when we go) im happy :rotfl2:

Anything above 1.75 and we are happy, one year we only got 1.4, so this years $2 mark was great news. :cool1:

when we bought into dvc it was $1.60 (1999)so we always work on anthing above that a bounus. It has hovered around $1.60 fo about 10years only recently past 2 years it got near to $2.00 mark and back in 1992 when we first whent.Have been as low as $1.40 over the past 16 years.Have pre paid our dvc dues at $2.02 on our nationwide and got out $1,200 in cash for next year using our flexaccount, rate at $2.03.So for me next years hoilday is all locked in at around $2.02(also got some TC on the $2-£1 offer)

Paul - did you just go into Nationwide and order the currency on your flex account? Are there no charges? I think I heard they were going to start charging for ATM withdrawals overseas but we only ever make CC purchases.

got when were over there, havent heard about them charging for atm withdrawals never been charged yet

2002 was our first trip and we got $1.36, we didn't really find things good value and wandered why everyone said it was mega cheap!! :rotfl:

Anything better than that for us is a bonus.

Soo.... the question is.... i'm going nov/dec next year, do you reckon it's worth changing up £800 worth of british notes this week to take advantage of the rates (would change up more, but kind of need some cash left over for xmas ;)

The best rate we have ever had was at $1.71 to the pound , so thinking that this year has been good for the exchange rate  and must agree with you anything above that is great news for Disney goers:yay:

If you changed £800 today you would get around $1,560 using the post office, which you would have to keep somewhere safe.
If you put the money in a bank account You should earn about £45 interest. Then use a Nationwide or Post office credit card with no fees (plus keep your money in the bank until you get home, another months interest)
If the rates stayed the same at the time you travel next year your £845 would get $1,723 using a no fee card($2.04/£1).
$163 better off by keeping your £'s. So the rate would have to fall drastically to be worse off but no-one knows it might, its your money your choice.:confused3

Thanks for the thoughts.... I think I just may do that... my egg account has an interest rate of 5.25%, so about £80+ interest in a year.... very tempting. Didn't look at it like that before!

Thanks again! :goodvibes

I'm rubbish at saving :confused3 if I had the money in the bank i'd probably spend it! LOL

We have the Nationwide card and it saved us a bundle! Although we booked direct we paid off everything before we went so the card was clear for when we went out there!

All in all we paid for 3 couples holidays on our card which came to about $17,000 when we added on Disney and Universal AP's and the cruise.

The lowest exchange rate that i got was $2.02/£1 which worked out at £8415. The currency rate was around the 1.95 when i got my small amount of currency to take with us. So if i had gotten travellers checques for it all it would have been £8717 so £300 dearer!

Of course i blew the extra money in shopping......
